⛈️Storm Damage Update🌳
Following the storm on September 2nd, our Golf Course & Grounds team has been assessing the damage throughout the property, including the Silver Maple on the right side of the 16th fairway. Given the significant damage to the tree’s canopy, we wanted to ensure its condition and safety was properly evaluated before making any decisions about its future.
The team met a Certified Arborist from the University of Guelph Arboretum, to assess the tree. Following the inspection, his recommendation is that the tree presents a low risk of failure and does not need to be removed at this time. The Club will be following the arborist’s recommendations, which include targeted reduction pruning to reduce weight on portions of the canopy, as well as ongoing monitoring of the wound for any signs of decay or further deterioration.
We are pleased that, at this time, the professional recommendation allows us to preserve it while continuing to monitor its condition. The safety of our members, guests and staff remains our priority, and we will continue to assess the tree and take appropriate action if conditions change.
