Learn. Train. Race. Belong. Dragon boating is a great way to meet new people or create memories with old and new friends and family. No experience is necessary!!

Kingston Dragon Boat Club is a welcoming community for paddlers of all experience levels, offering coached practices, skill development, recreational paddling and competitive racing in Kingston, Ontario. We currently offer a recreational paddling program for participants of all ages. We also offer opportunities to team build with your coworkers and compete on a team at local festivals.

Craving adventure (and BBQ 😉), Dragonfly'rs set out on this beautiful Saturday for our annual paddle to the Kingston Mills Locks. A few friends from the Chestmates joined us, because this kind of experience is definitely worth sharing!
All that paddling certainly made us hungry, but fortunately a great barbecue picnic had been set out for us (big Thank You to our terrific 'caterers' 😊).

Today was a great day to be a Dragonfly'r !!!

Only 10 of us made it out last night, but we braved the strong winds (at the other side of this island) and still got a solid paddle in.

Our Dragons ventured into new territory, yesterday, attending the Carleton Place Dragon Boat Festival. Though it was our first time attending, it's unlikely to be our last as we truly enjoyed the location.
Our crew trained in preparation for our first 400m races at a festival and it showed, paddling strong 💪

A beautiful summer day spent with great teammates, enjoying a sport we love - that's what it's all about, folks 🙂

One of those evenings that reminds you why we love being out on the water.

A beautiful sunset, calm water, two boats full of paddlers, and plenty of smiles after another great night of paddling.

Summer may be winding down, but we’re making the most of every practice we have left.

A little change of scenery for the crew.

Paddled out to Cedar Island, explored around Cathcart Tower, climbed a few rocks, took in the views, and even squeezed in a swim before heading back.

Not every night on the water has to be about training. Sometimes it’s just about enjoying where the boat can take us.

Packed our paddles and headed West...

After weeks of training, we spent Saturday at the Belleville Dragon Boat Festival. We had two crews this year, ready to hit the water. Great weather and a friendly welcome by the dedicated festival volunteers made this a great event. The current and wind added some challenges, but our dragons persevered - paddling strong through every race. Our club finished 1st in C Division and 3rd in B Division.
A great summer day of challenge, fun and camaraderie!

Lovely day on the water after a good amount of rain.

The crew put in some focused work on our set and catch protocol, sharpening the timing, connection, and consistency that set up the rest of the stroke.

Good conditions, good focus, and another solid session in the books. 💪
