An absolute gem 💎
Tomorrow is National Health and Fitness Day, and the University of Guelph Gryphons Rec staff just gave us a reminder of what fitness looks like today.
For Gen Z, movement isn’t just about appearances. It’s about mental health, focus, longevity and feeling their best every day.
They’re exercising to manage stress.
To build healthy habits.
To stay energized.
To support a better future.
And that’s something worth celebrating.
As we get ready for National Health and Fitness Day, we’re inspired by a generation that’s redefining success in fitness and choosing movement for all the right reasons.
Here’s to building healthier communities, stronger minds and lifelong wellbeing through movement.

Tomorrow is National Health and Fitness Day!
imagine if every single active Canadian got one person that they love active too?
This is the math we’ve been doing this week. We know only 46% of Canadians are achieving physical activity guidelines; we also know that only one in three Canadians are achieving the strength training guidelines.
we all have the ability to be a positive influence in someone else’s life.
This is why we are inspiring you to be a positive influencer tomorrow!

Not all leg extensions are created equal.
Traditional seated leg extensions do a great job targeting three of the four quadriceps muscles. But the re**us femoris—the only quad muscle that crosses both the hip and knee joints—responds differently.
That’s where the Matrix Reclining Leg Extension changes the game.
By allowing users to train in a reclined position, the machine places the re**us femoris in a more optimal position for activation, helping support more balanced quadriceps development. Research suggests this can contribute to improved knee stability, performance, and long-term joint health. (Johnson Health Tech)
It’s a simple idea backed by biomechanics:
✔️ Better targeting of the re**us femoris
✔️ More complete quadriceps development
✔️ Enhanced comfort and accessibility
✔️ Research-driven design that helps members train smarter
As strength training continues to evolve, so should the equipment that supports it.

This National Health and Fitness Day, we’re celebrating the people behind the programs, classes, facilities and communities that change lives every day.
Today, we’re recognizing Lynne Skilton-Hayes
For more than two decades, Lynne has inspired thousands of students, fitness professionals and community members to discover the power of movement. As a fitness leader, educator, international presenter, she has dedicated her career to helping people build confidence, resilience and lifelong healthy habits.
Lynne often says that fitness is not just what she does—it’s who she is. That passion has helped shape programs, mentor instructors, and create welcoming spaces where people feel they belong.
At Matrix, we are proud to partner with leaders like Lynne who remind us that the fitness industry is about so much more than equipment.
It’s about people.
It’s about community.
It’s about helping someone discover they are stronger than they thought possible.
Thank you, Lynne, for helping change lives through movement.
🇨🇦 NATIONAL HEALTH & FITNESS DAY WEEK STARTS NOW!
This Saturday, June 6, Canadians from coast to coast will celebrate National Health and Fitness Day — our industry’s biggest day of the year.
Since its launch in 2014 by former MP the vision has been bold and inspiring: to help make Canada the fittest nation on earth by 2030.
But that goal isn’t achieved by legislation alone.
It’s built one rep at a time.
One workout at a time.
One walk around the block.
One trainer.
One coach.
One gym.
One hotel fitness centre.
One condo gym.
One recreation centre.
One community.
It’s built by people helping people move.
This week, we’re celebrating the stories behind the sweat.
The moments when fitness helped someone recover.
The friendships formed in group fitness classes.
The confidence gained through strength training.
The mental health benefits of movement.
The simple joy of feeling strong enough to live life fully.
We want to hear YOUR story.

From gyms to condos to hotels, one thing is clear:
Consistency wins the day.
Strength training continues to evolve and equipment needs to evolve with it.
The Matrix Magnum High Row was built to support how people train today.
Independent rotating handles move naturally throughout the rep to support shoulder comfort and help users find the path that feels strongest for them.
Independent arms help encourage balanced strength development.
A vertical pull path keeps tension where it matters most, challenging the upper back, lats and rear shoulders through every repetition.
And because modern facilities need to maximize every square foot, the space-efficient footprint helps operators create stronger training experiences without sacrificing valuable floor space.
Training has evolved.
Equipment should too.

Strength training does not have to be complicated to be effective.
Coach and strength specialist Amanda Almond advocates for a practical approach to fitness rooted in consistency, science and sustainability. One of the biggest takeaways from her philosophy is that building strength does not require living in the gym.
Amanda keeps it simple. She focuses on training with purpose rather than doing more for the sake of doing more.
Her message is a reminder that lasting progress comes from habits you can maintain. Smart programming. Consistency. Recovery. Showing up over time.
You do not need perfect. You need a plan that works and the discipline to stick with it.
Strong bodies are built simply, intentionally and consistently.
Most people look at the Total Body Cycle or air bike as a high-intensity interval training tool. And it absolutely delivers there.
But great equipment works harder.
With independent upper and lower body movement, the Total Body Cycle can also support members through rehabilitation and recovery. If someone is rehabbing a knee injury, you can shift the focus toward upper body work while still creating an effective training session.
Separate arm and leg action gives trainers and facilities more flexibility to meet people where they are. From performance training to recovery support, one piece of equipment can serve more goals across your facility.
Smart design creates more possibilities.
And recognition follows.
The Total Body Cycle earned the for innovation, reinforcing its thoughtful design and functionality.
