This one hits very close to home.

Avery is just 15 years old and is one of Alex’s baseball teammates. I’ve coach Avery this year, and he is a truly great young man. Avery has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and is now at the IWK receiving treatment. In what feels like an instant, life has completely changed for Avery and his family. At 15 years old, he should be thinking about baseball, his teammates, friends and enjoying being a kid not fighting leukemia.

We want to do whatever we can to help take a little bit of the pressure off his family while Avery focuses on the fight in front of him. We’re holding a fundraiser where one lucky winner will get their CHOICE of one of three incredible signed hockey jerseys:

Dingers. Diving catches. Double plays. Absolute heaters from short, positivity, sportsmanship, energy and atmosphere all weekend long. 🔥🔥

Black Bears U15 11’s Team capped off an UNDEFEATED weekend with an exciting 4–3 victory in the championship game over the U15 PEI Prospects!

In the U17 Final, the Oromocto Silverbacks came away with the championship after an exciting back-and-forth battle.

Congratulations to all the players, coaches, families, volunteers and everyone who helped make the 2026 Bear Claw Classic such an awesome weekend.

Already looking forward to the 2027 Bear Claw Classic…
