You've heard "cortisol belly" everywhere lately — let's separate what's real from what's hype.

Your feed is probably full of it: cortisol supplements that promise to "flatten" your stomach, detox teas that claim to "flush" the stress out, 3-day resets that swear they'll fix your hormones for good.

And if you've tried any of it and felt basically nothing changed, you're not imagining it — most of that is marketing dressed up as science.

It's easy to start wondering if cortisol is even real, or just the internet's new favorite buzzword to sell you something.

Here's the part that actually holds up: cortisol is real, and chronic stress really can make fat loss harder by keeping your body in a defensive, hold-on-tight state.

But the fix was never a pill or a tea. It's regulation — things like slow breathing (in for 4, out for 6 to 8 seconds, which genuinely does shift your body into a calmer, parasympathetic state), consistent sleep, movement that supports your system instead of draining it further, herbs that do help calm the nervous system, and taking care of your gut health.

None of that is flashy. None of it fits in a 15-second "hack" video. But it's the version that's actually backed by how your body works — not the version designed to get you to check out.

If you've fallen for the supplement version of this before (no judgment, most of us have), comment below and let me know which one.

And if you want the regulation-first approach built into an actual plan, save this post, and comment "Flat Tummy" for the link in my bio to the 7-Day Flat Tummy & Energy Reset.

Should you take collagen? Here’s what it actually does — and what it doesn’t.

This is one of the questions I get asked more than almost any other: “Should I be taking collagen?”

And usually right behind it: “Which one?” It’s a fair question, because the collagen aisle (or the collagen corner of Instagram) makes it look like one tub does everything — skin, joints, muscle, bones, all in one scoop.

Here’s the thing almost nobody explains: not all collagen is built for the same job. A nutritionist once described it to me this way — think of the different types as different keys, and you need the right key for the lock you’re actually trying to open.

Collagen for skin and beauty is a different formula than collagen for bone density, which is different again from what supports joint cartilage or connective tissue repair.

Taking the wrong “key” for what you actually need is a big part of why so many women feel like collagen “didn’t do anything” for them.

So before you buy anything, the real first question is: what are you actually trying to support — skin, joints, bones, recovery?

That answer changes which one is worth your money.

(For what it’s worth, since I’m rehabbing ligament and connective tissue right now, I use one with type 2 collagen and a specific amino acid blend built for that called tendo repair by Can Prev.)

Save this so you have it next time you’re standing in that aisle wondering where to even start. And I’m curious — have you tried collagen before, or are you still on the fence? Tell me in the comments.

Eat less, move more” worked in your 20s. Here’s the actual reason it stopped working now.

Your metabolism has changed. Your hormones have shifted. And on top of that, chronic stress can put your body in what I call “metabolic lockdown” — where poor sleep, elevated stress, changes in appetite, recovery and activity can all make fat loss feel significantly harder, even when you’re trying really hard.

Meanwhile, most of women default to walking and calling it movement, hoping that alone will hold the line like it used to.

Here’s what’s actually different now: your body needs resistance training and pilates a few times a week, not just cardio.

It needs to eat in a way that matches your specific body type and metabolism, not a generic plan.

And it needs your nervous system regulated, not constantly stressed, or none of the rest works as well as it should.

It’s not one fix. It’s these pieces working together.

Save this for later, and if you want the full plan, comment “Flat Tummy” for the link in my bio to the 7-Day Flat Tummy & Energy Reset.
