Are you an early adopter of new tech? Or do you resist change like me?
Last Friday, while being coached by the fabulous Jocelyne Desautels, Effective Organizing, I realized that wearing my blue-tooth wired ear-buds during our session allowed me the freedom to move around while re-organizing my office systems.
A little context...
This spring, I started having trouble connecting to the Internet during online meetings, a huge barrier for someone who does most of my work online!
After a bunch of trouble-shooting I realized that my laptop was the problem, and switched to my back-up system, which includes a hard-drive tower, a huge screen, and a decent web-cam. I had problems getting the audio working, since my noise canceling headphones couldn't easily be connected to this system.
PS: I normally post content like this over the lunch hour. Today, I was in a client meeting, so I'm posting a bit later. I wonder what impact that will have on how many folks this post reaches?
Then, I realized that I could use the we**am microphone and the screen's speakers, most of the time...
When that didn't work, I could hook up the $20 blue-tooth ear-buds I purchased more than a year ago, for a road trip.
What I didn't realize until the meeting with my coach, was that the cheap ear-buds transmit my voice much better than the we**am microphone!
This is a reminder to myself that it's OK to experiment with new-to-me technology, so that I can provide a better experience to my clients.
And I'm thrilled with the insight that I can participate fully online, while not being tethered to my office chair!
I'm curious, have you adopted technology that is making your life easier?
