We were honoured to have David Grove, City of Colwood Councillor, throw the ceremonial first jack of the season.
He was joined by Jennifer Parlee, who began with a land acknowledgement recognizing that we are on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen speaking people, including the Songhees Nation and Xwsepsum Nation.
Thank you both for helping make it such a great start to the season!

After our recent Bowl for the Cure event (Sept 20–21), we found a few items that were left behind : 2 jackets, a pair of sunglasses, a lunch bag and a pair of shoes. The water bottle has already been claimed.
If any of these items belong to you, you will need to pick them up before October 4th when our clubhouse will be closing for the season. After that, they’ll be donated to charity.
Please send a message to [email protected] to arrange pick up.

Lawn Bowl For The Cure
September 21st & 22nd, 2025
Another successful “Lawn Bowl for the Cure” has come to an end and it surpassed our expectations.
A heartfelt thank you to the 32 teams (232 bowlers), who participated in this year’s event. You brought not only your lawn bowls and enthusiasm, but also your team spirit and unending sense of humour. The result? Two full days of fun and games all in the name of a good cause.
After an exciting schedule of pairs, singles, triples, and fours, it was the team with 8 wins, 1 tie, and 1 loss who came out on top.
Congratulations to "Team Leamen" - overall winners of the 2025 Lawn Bowl for the Cure tournament:
- Jeff Leamen
- Wendy Leamen
- Cherlyn McArthur
- Rob McArthur
- Gerry Clark
- Betty Townsend
- Judy Arsenault
And of course, this event was about more than just lawn bowling. While the final tally isn’t quite complete, it looks like we raised an incredible $11,700 for the Canadian Cancer Society, Vancouver Island.
Special thanks to:
• Kim Engelstad, who was instrumental in bringing back the popular raffle table and raised $3,232.00
• Ron Leslie of Sidney LBC, who raised and donated $3,100.00.
Finally, a huge thank you to Steve Shulhan, Rob McArthur and the dedicated volunteers who made it all possible. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.👏
