James Herbert travelled to Bedford again to participate in the SEAA championships. In blustery and damp conditions he put in a solid performance with another 2.0m jump taking the gold medal in the process. He even made it onto instagram with the official photographer choosing James for his picture of the day.

With the deepest sadness I am sorry to let members know that Caroline Taverner, one of the most enthusiastic members of the middle distance and cross-country group at AAC, died on April 2nd after the most courageous battle against ovarian cancer.
For many years she was a regular attendee on Monday and Wednesday, training with her two boys William (now 20) and Toby (18), and husband Charles.
A talented athlete from a young age, at school Caroline was 'victrix ludorum', and became a regular at Andover Parkrun from the early days. She was a qualified PT and community health worker, maintaining an exceptional level of fitness into adulthood - most recently winning her age group at Hurstbourne 5 shortly before her diagnosis in summer 2024. Caroline absolutely loved her nights on the track with the group and met some great friends through the club. One of her biggest regrets when ill was no longer being able to run and she had hoped to get back on the track this spring. A trophy will be donated to the club by the family this year, dedicated to her memory.
Her funeral will be held on Friday May 1 at 3pm at St Peter's Church, St. Mary Bourne. Her friends from AAC are most welcome.

Dear Andover AC Members (18+)
Posted on behalf of Richard Ingram.
I'm an MSc Student in Sport Rehabilitation at St Mary's University Twickenham, conducting research into how sport and fitness participants choose their healthcare providers when injured. Sport and fitness participants’ recovery often depends on making smart healthcare choices and I need your help to understand what matters most to them.
I'm sending out emails now to allow your members plenty of time to participate as the survey closes on the 31st March.
What I'm asking: Could you share the link below with your members (aged 18+) via WhatsApp, email, or social media please?
What's involved: A 10-minute anonymous survey about how sport and fitness participants select their healthcare provider (for example physiotherapist, GP, or sports therapist) when injured. Participation is completely voluntary and will help improve injury care pathways in sport.
Why this research matters: Research into how sport and fitness participants choose their healthcare providers remains limited. This study aims to address this gap and help improve injury care pathways for sport & fitness participants. Your members’ insights are crucial to building this evidence base.

Research Approval: This study has received full ethical approval from St Mary's University Ethics Committee. All data is handled in strict accordance with GDPR guidelines and remains completely anonymous.
Thank you for supporting research into sports injury management. If you have questions about this research, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hello all
The next Southern Athletic League match will take place in Milton Keynes on Sunday 22nd June. I won't be here to manage to team or officiate. I will be on holiday from Wednesday 4th.
1. Would someone offer to take-over the Team Manager role in my absence. I / we can supply the access codes to submit the declaration.
2. Athletes - Could you indicate whether you will / won't be attending the match? For clarification, I will not be making any assumptions about your attendance if you don't respond. Please don't leave it until the last minute / Saturday 21st, as the Team Manager needs to declare the team on the preceding Thursday.
3. If you do attend and even if you aren't a qualified official, please offer to help out. It helps the day go much more smoothly, particularly for the licensed officials, but also gains us off-track points.
Please don't think that its a long way to go, Andover don't have the numbers to compete, is it really worth it! Yes it is. Its your opportunity to compete, show how much you've improved and represent the club and a new and different venue. This could be the day that no one else turns up and you get to shine.
Note: Match 2 features 5000m rather than 2000m, shorter Steeplechase events and 4x400m mixed relay.
Cheers
Tom

REMINDER - the lower car park at Charlton athletic track will be closed this evening. This will mean parking will be tight tonight. Please park considerately and constructively. We will endeavour to put out cones early on to 'reserve' the area outside the pavilion. Car share might be your best option.

Hi,
I am writing on behalf of Gosport Rotary Club which is organising the Gosport Golden Mile on Easter Monday, April 21st at Stokes Bay.
The Rotary club is jointly organising the one mile chip-timed run along Stokes Bay Promenade with the Absolute 545 RunClub to raise money for the Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.
We're expecting quite a few fun entries from runners across the south coast, particularly Park Runners. However, because chip-timed mile events are so infrequent, we are hoping running clubs might use the Golden Mile as a club time trial. For runners at Andover Athletics Club preparing for the track season, this might also serve as quite a useful testing event.
We will set up the uber flat course to ensure there is a tail-wind, if one is blowing, to ensure fast times, and Alexandra Sports will be providing prizes - in addition to all finishers receiving the Gosport Golden Mile medal! This is the link to the entry form: https://bit.ly/GoldenMile2025
Would it be possible to publish this information on your club website and in any newsletter you might distribute to members? I hope we can get a few members from Andover AC down to Stokes Bay on Easter Monday.
Best wishes,
David King.

Dear all
Works to resurface the overflow car park at Charlton Sports Centre are due to commence on 24th February and is likely to take a few weeks.
During this time, the overflow car park will not be accessible. The Sports pavilion car park will remain open. Please encourage, where possible, customers to car share or find alternative parking on adjoining roads.
For Weekday bookings the carpark at Andover Football Club will also be made available for parking.
Any queries or concerns please let me know.
Many Thanks
Jenny Quilty, TVBC

Good afternoon all
Next Sunday will be the home SAL meeting.
Due to the number of Field officials, the time has changed to the one adopted in May at Bournemouth. This means field events will be Mixed.
If you / your athlete would like to take part please let me know. There is capacity for non-scorers too, so please take the opportunity to have a go, even if you don't think you're up to standard. You will be.
As always, these events don't just happen. On the day itself we will require front-facing help to manage the events, plus help with parking, running the tuckshop and running results back and forth. This is always easier with more hands. Volunteers, please step forward.
Looking forward to seeing you next Sunday.
Regards
Tom
