Ashford Through the Generations

A rugby journey that came full circle for Max, who played his first festival for Ashford RFC before showing us this incredible photograph from Ashford’s first game of the 1950 season.

Seated at the right-hand end is his great-grandfather, George Dawes.

Over 75 years apart, two generations, one Ashford Rugby Club Community ❤️💛🖤

Scoring your first try🤩

A moment George never forget. An Ashford RFC memory that will last a lifetime.

A truly special moment as one of our young Ashford players crossed the line for their very first try, caught on camera too🎉

These are the moments that make grassroots rugby so important. Today’s first try scorers are tomorrow’s players, teammates, coaches and club legends.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone for George and the young people who represent our community every week ❤️🖤💛

Ashford U12s v Dover RFC

A great morning of junior rugby on Sunday as Ashford U12s took on Dover RFC in an entertaining and competitive 40 minutes.

Ashford produced a convincing performance, playing with real intent from the start. Particularly pleasing was the boys’ desire to attack, move the ball through the hands and bring teammates into the game. There were some excellent passages of rugby, with good support play and plenty of willingness to pass rather than simply take the ball into contact.

Thomas, Harrison, Isaac, Adam and Esbern were among the Ashford try scorers, but this was very much a team performance, with contributions throughout the squad.

A special mention too for Oliver and Freddie, who made their Ashford debuts. Both fitted straight into the side and represented the club brilliantly – welcome to the Ashford rugby family!💛❤️🖤

Huge credit must also go to Dover. They competed hard for the full 40 minutes, never stopped playing and were rewarded with three well-worked tries of their own.

Most importantly, the game was played in the right spirit, with both teams demonstrating the values we want to see in junior rugby: respect, teamwork, effort and enjoyment.

Well done to everyone involved, and thank you to Dover for a great game of junior rugby.

🏉🦏Ashford Rhino’s U8’s 🦏🏉

What an amazing first festival at Medway today. With 8 players experiencing their first festival with Ashford.

We had amazing super tagging, keeping space, getting those turn over balls and of course plenty of try’s between them all.

An absolutely buzzing team full of loads of energy all day and thank you to all the other teams at the festival. Well done Rhinos.

What an unusually hot October Sunday for the Toucan Tykes! ☀️

With the rest of the minis away, it was lovely and quiet at the club… which meant we had our pick of the pitches!

We made sure the rest of the club knew we were there with plenty of enthusiastic shouting of *“TAG!”*. We had great fun practising our ball skills and tagging skills, with lots of energy and smiles along the way.

A huge well done to Beau, who was awarded Player of the Week! He’ll be looking after Gilbert Bear until next Sunday.

Well done, U6s, for another fantastic effort. You were brilliant!

🏉 AVENGERS ASSEMBLED, AND DELIVERED! 🔴🟡⚫

A fantastic day at the Medway Minis Festival, with Team Captain America and Team Iron Man winning all their games! 💪

Strong rucking, committed tackling, brilliant offloads and support running showed what these young Avengers can do together.

Every player played their part. The coaches couldn’t be prouder of the effort and teamwork on display.

Well done, Avengers, and thank you to our opponents, hosts and everyone cheering from the sidelines! 👏
