🏆💜 WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! 💜🏆

Yesterday, Bamber Mental Health FC had the absolute privilege of attending the BBC Radio Lancashire Make a Difference Awards 2026 — and what an afternoon it was!

We were shortlisted as one of the FINAL FOUR for The Active Award, an award recognising individuals and groups who use physical activity and sport to improve the lives of people within their community.

To have Bamber Mental Health FC recognised for exactly what we set out to do means more than we can put into words. 💙

Of course, we'd have loved to bring the award home! 😂🏆 But there is absolutely no disappointment here. We were Highly Commended, and to make the final four after more than 4,000 entries is something we're incredibly proud of.

When we started this club, it wasn't about trophies, leagues or awards. It was about creating somewhere men could turn up, play football, have a laugh, make friends and, most importantly, know they weren't alone.

And that's still what it's about today.

A massive THANK YOU to every single person who nominated Bamber MHFC. ❤️ The fact that people in our community took the time to put our name forward means the world to us.

Thank you also to BBC Radio Lancashire for an amazing afternoon, for making us feel so welcome and for recognising the incredible work being done across Lancashire.

And finally, thank you to every single person who has ever walked through the gates and joined one of our sessions. This recognition belongs to all of you.

We might not have come home with the trophy...

But we came home Highly Commended, one of the final four in Lancashire, and even more determined to keep doing what we do. 💙🤍

💛 WORLD SU***DE PREVENTION DAY 2026 💛

Today is about more than awareness.

It’s about people.
It’s about conversations.
It’s about reminding someone that they matter.

At Bamber MHFC, mental health has always been at the heart of everything we do. Football might be what brings us together, but the community, friendships and support around it are what make us who we are.

Sometimes the person struggling the most is the one you’d least expect.

The teammate cracking jokes.
The friend who always says they’re fine.
The dad who keeps everything going.
The person who never misses a session.

So today, check in on someone.

And don’t just ask “You alright?”

Ask twice. Stay for the answer. Listen without judgement.

And if you’re the one struggling right now, please know there are people who want you here. You don't have to have the right words. You don't have to explain everything. Just starting with “I’m struggling” is enough.

At Bamber MHFC, nobody has to struggle alone.

🚨 WE’VE GOT SOME HUGE NEWS… BAMBER MHFC IS A FINALIST!! 🚨

🏆 Bamber MHFC / AFC Bamber has been shortlisted for THE ACTIVE AWARD at the BBC Radio Lancashire Make a Difference Awards 2026! 🏆

And this is HUGE.

There were OVER 1,000 ENTRIES across this year’s awards, with the judging panel spending weeks going through the nominations…

And Bamber MHFC has made the FINAL FOUR! 🤯

From starting out with a handful of lads kicking a football around in the rain back in 2022, to building a community where hundreds of men have found friendship, support, football and somewhere they can simply be themselves…

To now being recognised by BBC Radio Lancashire is something incredibly special.

⚽ We’ve always said we are about so much more than football.

Every session.
Every conversation.
Every new face walking through the door.
Every person who found the courage to come along for the first time.
Every friendship that's been made.
Every person who has realised they aren't alone.

Today's game ended in a draw, good fight from the lads from start to finish, escially since we didnt have a keeper available today. Well done lads! Great improvement

Strong FC 4 - 1 Bamber MHFC

Saturday lunchtime kick off for our opening game of the Lancashire FA Social Inclusion League. We travelled to Blackpool for a game against our good friends from Strong FC.

A strong squad arrived in Blackpool, however we had an enforced change in starting line up due to an injury to Joel Horton in warm up.

The lads started brightly, some nice intelligent play through the team and some powerful runs on the right wing from Shay had Strong FC on the back foot early. Another injury forced a change on the right however, with Shay being replaced by Corby. This almost paid off immediately when a superb cut back landed at the feet of Sean Mooney, but our usually reliable No10's shot went over from 12 yards.

We hadn't bargained for Strongs "secret weapon", a long throw expert who, with an assisting wind caused chaos in the Bamber defence. These throws caught us off guard and were very difficult to defend, resulting in us conceding 2 goals with the thrower claiming the assist on each occasion. The momentum swung in favour of Strong for the remainder of the half, with the score at 3-0 at half time.

The Bamber lads came out strong in the second half with some excellent passing moves and driving runs from Joel Hunt, Harry Bevan and winger Vlad. This led to a well taken goal from Vlad, skipping past his man and finishing from just inside the box.

Unfortunately, Bamber couldn't use this momentum to the good, some great opportunities for Joel, Sean and Tom didn't add to our tally. But the lads fought till the last. A last minute mix up gifted a final goal to Strong, but the game was out of reach by then.

Lots to improve on for us as we look forward to the next game in two weeks.

⚽AUGUST AT BAMBER MHFC ⚽

What a month for our community.

August saw an incredible 283 attendances across just 8 Mental Health & Social Football sessions. 👏

That’s 283 occasions where somebody chose to get out of the house, get active, have a laugh, talk, connect with others or simply spend an hour around people who understand.

But August wasn't just about the numbers...

⚽ AFC Bamber began their third Lancashire Sunday League season, stepping up into Division 3.

🔵 Bamber MHFC entered the Social Inclusion League, creating even more opportunities for people to enjoy football in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our first game takes place against Strong FC on Saturday 5th September.

Most importantly, our community continues to grow.

Whether you've been with us since the beginning or walked through the door for the first time this month, thank you for being part of it. 💙

We are more than just a football club.

We are a community.
