Girls, Goals & Game Changers ⚽💙
Week 3 — and there was plenty more to celebrate across the Wombwell Town FC Girls section!
Another weekend of football, learning, teamwork, determination and, most importantly, girls enjoying being out on the pitch with their teammates. 🙌
As the season continues to settle into a rhythm, we’re already seeing some fantastic development across the age groups, with new teams growing together and returning groups continuing to build confidence.
Here’s how the weekend looked…
⭐ U8, U9, U10 & U11
Another brilliant weekend of football for our youngest girls! 👏⚽
For our U8s, U9s, U10s and U11s, it’s all about learning, developing and enjoying the game.
Every training session and every game gives the girls another chance to try something new, develop their skills and grow in confidence.
It’s fantastic to see friendships developing, teamwork improving and the girls becoming more comfortable and confident on the pitch.
There are going to be plenty of twists and turns along the way, but that’s all part of their football journey.
Keep learning. Keep smiling. Keep enjoying your football, girls! 💙
⭐ U12
What a fantastic weekend for our U12s! 🔥
Following on from last week’s 4-4 draw, the girls went one better this weekend and picked up their first win and first three points of the season! 👏💙
What a great start for this new team!
This group is continuing to find its feet, learn about each other and develop as a team, and there are already some really positive signs.
The girls are working hard, supporting each other and showing plenty of determination — and it’s fantastic to see that rewarded.
A first win, three points and plenty more to look forward to.
Well done, girls! Keep it going! 💪⚽
⭐ U14 Black
Another away day — another fantastic result for our U14 Blacks! 🔥
Following up last week’s impressive away victory, the girls continued their fantastic start with another win on the road.
That’s a brilliant follow-up for this new group, who are quickly settling into life together and showing plenty of confidence and togetherness.
Away games can bring their own challenges, but the girls continue to show determination, work for each other and stay focused throughout.
Two weeks, two away wins — what a start to their Wombwell journey! 👏💙
⭐ U14 Red
It was another difficult afternoon for our U14 Reds, who unfortunately suffered another defeat.
But once again, the result doesn’t tell the whole story.
What continues to stand out with this group is their team spirit.
The girls continue to support one another, work for each other and stay together through the difficult moments.
Football won’t always go the way you want it to, but the way this group continues to stick together deserves huge credit.
Keep supporting each other. Keep working hard. Keep believing.
Better days will come. 💙👏
⭐ U15
It was another tough afternoon for our U15s as they came away with a defeat.
But, as we’ve said before, football is about much more than one result.
This is a group with plenty of ability and plenty of potential, and every game gives them another opportunity to learn, develop and improve.
There will be challenging days throughout a season — what matters is how you respond to them.
Keep your heads up, girls.
Keep working for each other.
Keep believing in yourselves.
There’s a long season ahead and plenty more opportunities to show what you can do. 💪💙⚽
⭐ U16
Our U16s were in County Cup action this weekend, facing a strong side from a higher division.
The girls went into the game already facing a challenge, with several players unavailable and just 11 players available for the match.
That meant there were no substitutes and absolutely no room for an easy afternoon.
Despite the circumstances and the strength of the opposition, the girls never gave up.
They worked hard from the first whistle to the last, supported each other and continued to battle right until the end.
The result didn’t go their way, but the attitude of the girls deserves huge credit.
With just 11 players, against a team from a higher division, they could easily have dropped their heads.
They didn’t.
They kept going.
They kept fighting.
They kept working for each other.
That spirit is something this group can be proud of. 💙👏
────────
Another weekend. Another chapter. ⚽💙
Three weeks into the season and there’s already so much to be proud of across Wombwell Town FC Girls.
From our youngest players taking their next steps in football, to new teams finding their identity, to our older groups facing challenges and showing incredible resilience — every single girl is playing their part.
There will be good days.
There will be difficult days.
There will be lessons.
There will be moments to celebrate.
But through all of it, we’ll continue to support our girls and give them the opportunity to enjoy the game they love.
Keep smiling.
Keep learning.
Keep supporting each other.
And most importantly…
Keep playing, girls! 💙⚽
On to week four!
