Today we hosted the first local derby of the season against our local rivals Hoyland common fc. With probably 150 supporters from both teams it was clear that this was a big game that matters. From the first whistle it was clear that it was going to be a fierce battle. We soon got hold of the game and without playing any real good football we once again out battled the opposition and took control of the game. Hoyland common continued to play long ball and never really looked a threat. We soon took the lead with some good play which resulted in James Hector crossing the ball for the little magician Nathan fletcher to find the net with a brilliant finish. Hoyland common finally created a chance soon afterwards when the ball fell inside the box 10 yards out with our keeper stranded and looked a certain equaliser but somehow was denied by the brilliance of our midfield maestro playing goalkeeper and man of the match Jacobe Jammeh who got back and pulled off a wonderful save. We then continued to win the battles all over the pitch and created a couple more half chances. The game continued to be a battle into the second half with not much in the way of chances from either team. With 60 mins on the clock manager jimmy armo made his first appearance of the season and come of the bench to head home the second from a brilliant Mitch wynn throw in. Big respect and Credit to the Hoyland common lads they never stopped battling and played to the very end. The game continued to be a battle and played out to a well deserved 2-0 win. Each and every player in our squad was immense today showing how vital everyone is to this club, especially when you have big players out , aswell as our goalkeeper. Special mentions today for our defence Ben cryer , josh Dixon , Lewis mosely, Luke davey , Jake Vaughan who were magnificent. But I could mention everyone to be fair. I also would like to thank our substitutes who could be forgiven for being a little disappointed not to start. It’s not a reflection on any performances it’s just rotation and players for different games. Thankyou though for the great attitudes.Big Thankyou as always to our amazing supporters, without you all we aren’t a club or family. And big Thankyou as always to our sponsors Spencer roofing , Toffs , and prospect tavern.

This will be a short one , very disappointed with our discipline towards the end of the game , you can’t win games with ill discipline and 10 men on the pitch. We need to learn very quickly. Overshadowed another decent performance without creating too much. We were by far the better side but that doesn’t always win football matches, fair play to them they got the job done ugly. Man of the match today was Nathan fletcher , he always show’s calmness on the ball and never gives the ball away. Some other really good performances on the pitch but it wasn’t enough today.

It’s that time again folks , this weekend we are on the road again , this time in the supplementary cup where we face a very good Rose and crown side. We are looking to build on our previous performances and I’m sure the boys will do us proud. So if you are free on Sunday why not come and support the lads , we always love seeing you at pitch side and your support is very much appreciated. Thankyou In advance and as always big Thankyou to our season sponsors

Today we travelled to Sheffield in the county cup to face Chaucer athletic. Playing on a terrible pitch with very long grass was very hard to play any football. The long grass soon took its toll and a couple of key injuries early on left it’s mark. But with Hoyland’s superb squad these days we looked to our bench and brought on quality. Both teams created chances but failed to find the net. Some good football in spells from us but was really hard to get going with the grass. Second half a great team goal from the home team put them 1 up. Now chasing the game we made some tweaks in formation to chase the game. This took some getting used to and for the next 20 mins spell they looked the more dangerous. We however dug deep and started to get hold of the game and was soon awarded a penalty on 65 mins but failed to convert. We continued to take risks and some really great play from Owen evans as he raced through on goal to be brought down for another penalty. Owen stepped up and slotted home In the 80th minute to equalise. From then on there only looked one winner and when Jesse Paul played a beautiful through ball for kristian wroe to latch onto and smash home the winner on 86mins the game was done. Good teams find a way to win and our boys showed grit and character to keep going and come back against a very good Chaucer side. Special mentions today for J l wildsmith who made his first start of the season after suffering with long term back problems and gave us 45 really good mins. Kristian wroe who showed all the quality we knew he could offer after being out for a few weeks. Defensively brilliant today and midfield ran their socks off.
Today our man of the match was our no1 jay Bryan who was outstanding today. Big Thankyou to all our supporters as always for making the journey to support and of course our sponsors , Spencer roofing , toffs , prospect tavern.
