What's in store for Saturday? Newaza, atemiwaza and randori, so bring gloves / pads if you have them 👊🙏

01/10/2026

Looking forward to Saturday training. We're at the end of our Tachiwaza practice, so Newaza becomes the focus for a while. It'll then all be put back together as we head towards the grading at the end of the month 🙏

P.S. This pic is what a 3D printing manufacturer thinks I look like if rendered into a 3D anime model! At least they got the kanji right 😆

Very pleased to see that our recent review of safeguarding policies and procedures has been accredited by The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts, who awarded us the certificate and kite mark, ensuring parents know we are a safe place for their children to learn 🙏

Less than 3 weeks till Japan Matsuri, Trafalgar Square. Who's coming? Once I have you back up to standard, maybe we can apply to demonstrate Ju Jutsu here, like we did for Hyperjapan and MCM Comicon 🙏

04/09/2026

We used to attend this years ago. Japan Matsuri stopped for a while but now it's back. Let me know if you're interested in going, it's street event so FREE to attend. I'll be going so can arrange to meet. Japanese food, music, dance, martial arts and souvenirs. It's in the middle of Trafalgar Square and there will be 1,000's of people attending so perhaps not the best place to be if you don't like crowds 🙏

LONDON ARE YOU READY?! 🇬🇧⛩️🇯🇵

The (huge) project I've been working on for a while will go live soon - just waiting for one of the locations to confirm starting date.

This is spread across several locations in Luton, but also covers Basingstoke and London. It involves the formation of a new club in Luton - (Mizu Ryu Ju Jutsu Luton), as well as other 1-2-1 and group exercise, health & healing activities.

It will also help create more inclusive seminars as it's easier for all my contacts in Welwyn Garden City, Coventry, Birmingham, Peterborough, Cambridge and Leicester to get to, pulling together the best of instructor friends gained over the last 32 years, as well as new martial instructors I've come to know over the last 2 or 3 years. www.kizunaholistichouse.com

Stay tuned for more info and the official opening date, which will be a traditional Japanese Kagami Biraki style event, including some really well known martial instructors some of you may have read about, but not met, yet 🙏

Holistic Therapy, Swim Coaching, Martial Arts, Fitness, Life Coaching, Meditation and reiki.

Tomorrow sees the start of the Obon お盆 festival. Here's a link to The Japan Society website for a downloadable info pack to learn a little more about the festival and it's importance, as well as a couple of origami projects on video to keep you busy for a while!

Obon is one of the most important annual festivals in Japan and takes place in the summer. It is based on the Buddhist belief that the spirits of ancestors return to their family home at this time of year.

Lots of exciting stuff going on behind the scenes, but for now, it's important to pay respects to, and honour the achievements of our 3 most recent grade recipients:

* Rachel 9th Kyu Red Belt
* Rene 9th Kyu Red Belt
* Zach Junior Yellow Belt

Congratulations, another step closer to Kuro Obi (Black Belt) Well done all! 🙏
