Day One of Petanque Falls Final... Congrats to Peter Campbell on winning the shooting competition. Thanks to Steve Smith for organising and Brian Smith for providing the provender and of course the Social Management Committee for the subvention!!

🏆 Club Finals 2026 – Congratulations to Our Winners! 🏆

We had a fantastic day for our Club Finals, and a huge congratulations to all of our winners!

Some of our members were fortunate enough to reach two finals, but a special shout-out has to go to Desi McGlue and Mark Leckey, who both made it to three finals!
In fact, we had to spread the finals over two days just to make sure they didn’t tire themselves out too much on the day… old age and all that! 😂

And another special mention for our 3-in-a-row champion, Paddy Rooney, who won the Open Singles once again. Paddy is also the only name on our new Honours Board - maybe he should take it home!

A massive well done to everyone who took part throughout the competitions. It takes plenty of games, commitment and, of course, a bit of luck along the way to make it through to finals day.

Apologies that we didn’t manage to get photos of all our finalists and winners – there was plenty happening over the two days!

For those of you with keen eyes you will have spotted two bronze figurines above the bar. These were donated by the McPartland family to the Club then onwards to Petanque Falls. Having done our research we believe them to have been sculpted in bronze by Anatola Guillot a French artist sometime in the mid 1800s. We think they are part of a set of three Petanque players as the sport is normally played in teams of three with a pointer, who tries to get as close to the jack as possible, a shooter who tries to "take out" lying boules and a milieu, akin to the Skip in bowls who is the tactician and can both point and shoot. We believe the "milieu" is missing from the set! If you want to see all aspects of the game in action, the Club finals are being help on Sunday 27th between 3.00 and 5.00
