Showing up to the gym consistently but not seeing the progress you want? 👀
Before you start adding MORE workouts to your week, have a look at what you’re doing outside the gym.
Even if you train four times a week for an hour, that’s only around 2% of your entire week.
What about the other 98%?
This is where NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) comes in. Essentially, all the movement you do outside of your planned workouts.
Walking the dog, taking the stairs, doing the housework, walking to the shops or simply getting up from your desk more often.
It might not feel like much, but all those little movements add up.
And when it comes to fat loss, increasing your daily movement can help increase your overall energy expenditure without having to squeeze another gym session into an already busy week.
Of course, nutrition, sleep and recovery all play their part too. But sometimes the answer isn’t to train harder or do more.
It’s to move a little more throughout the day.
Start small. Be consistent. Build from there.
💬 How much do you actually move outside of your workouts? Are you someone who gets their steps in naturally, or do you have to make a conscious effort?
