"For those who know me and know my story, you’ll know that on 28th August 2021, 5 years ago today, I lost my girlfriend and best friend, Jazz, very unexpectedly. Losing Jazz is a moment that will stay with me forever.

For the last five years, I’ve been trying to find the courage to raise money in her memory and to honour the incredible person she was. Now, I feel ready to do something that I know would mean so much to me and, I hope, would make Jazz proud.

Next April, just days before what would have been her 26th birthday, I will be running the London Marathon in Jazz’s memory, raising money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
Jazz passed away due to a heart condition called cardiomyopathy. At the time, it was something neither of us knew she had. Cardiomyopathy is a form of heart disease that affects the heart’s ability to pump blood around the body.

CRY works to raise awareness, research heart conditions and help prevent young people and families from experiencing the devastating loss that we have. I couldn’t think of a more fitting charity to support in Jazz’s memory.

I would be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Every contribution will help me reach my fundraising goal, allow me to run the marathon in Jazz’s memory, and hopefully help prevent other families from having to experience the heartbreak that Jazz’s family and I have faced over the past five years.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, Jazz, and her family over the years. It means more than I can put into words.”

Good morning all,

Tonight brings a 90+% solar eclipse, which, as you might imagine, doesn’t happen very often.

The weather is looking fair (i.e. it’s not going to rain), so you might want to watch from somewhere without city lights buggering it all up.

The club will be open, and it’s atop a nice hill where the effects of the eclipse should be particularly obvious and clear.

What an opportunity to gather, whoop and holler, and witness something which would otherwise just be a darkening of the sky at home.

If you get here around 6.30pm, you’ll have a chance of a lovely pint, a conversation about why the rugby isn’t on yet, and witness an incredible cosmic event.

Peak darkness should be around 7.15pm 🌒
