Poppies hit Cranborne for six!
A dominant performance from the boys yesterday saw them run riot over bottom of the table Cranborne. An old foe who has given us plenty of good games but this one was different, a quick start before being pegged back but that’s as close as it got. A one sided game that in truth was over early in the second half and became a bit of a slow watch as the game dragged to an end.
Some superb moments of brilliance and composure saw Seb Roffey get his first goal for the club to restore our lead after a threaded pass from skipper Alex Corbin. After having come close just before Luca Saunders extended our lead 2 minutes before the break, catching the keeper stranded from 30 yards with a stunning strike.
Cranborne came out after the break trying to find a chance to get back into the game but Charlie Kings second of the day ended the game as a contest. Joe Cragg came off the bench to score a clinical counter attacking goal and turned provider 2 minutes later to set up Luca for his second goal.
A strong performance and a nice boost to the goal difference without really getting out of second gear.
Thanks to Cranborne for the hospitality as always, good luck for the rest of the season. Next week we make the short journey to Wareham to face them for the second time in 3 weeks.

🏆 September Player of the Month🏆
Well done to Luca Saunders who is our September player of the month. Goals, assists, winning penalties and energy on and off the ball. A very deserving winner of our first POTM this season

Statement made📝
A massive win yesterday for the boys against a previously unbeaten Wareham Rangers. A physical side with a clear game plan who stuck to it relentlessly and tested our back line for the whole game, but some serious grit from the whole squad saw us come away with the points.
A smart free kick from Henry Neville under the wall took the keeper by surprise and gave us the lead after a fairly even first half with chances for both sides. Poppies keeper Steph making a number of saves to keep us level, including a reflex stop onto the crossbar from close range.
Our halftime lead was soon gone after a dubious penalty was tucked home and the strong winds played right into Warehams game plan and we found ourselves pinned in our 18 yard box. A couple of changes in midfield allowed us to get back on the ball and turn the game around, determined play from Luca won us a penalty which was calmly dispatched by Henry for his second of the game and restored our lead. It was Luca again who won us a second penalty after a foul by the keeper, and this time it was his turn to find the back of the net to seal the points.
Thanks to Wareham for the game, we will see them in 2 weeks time for the return fixture at their place.

A blistering start from the boys against last seasons champions saw us 1 up inside 5 minutes on Saturday. Winning the ball high and Charlie Kelly playing through Jaye Arogundade to slot home into the far corner.
We were on top for the first 20 minutes and had Cobham on the back foot and should’ve been 2 up 10 minutes later when Charlie King did well on the edge of the box only to put his shot straight into the keepers hands.
A ball down the left hand side of Cobhams attack opened us up and a challenge from the Poppies defence drew a penalty for the hosts. Stéphane Yonga, making his debut in goal, saved well down low to his left from the intial spot kick but was unlucky to see the rebound fall straight back to the feet of the Cobham skipper who made no mistake second time round.
The second half saw us under pressure as Cobham dominated possession but we still had chances on the counter with our pace out wide. Stéphane kept us in the game with 2 great saves 1 on 1, however we also failed to take our chances at the other end.
A frantic end to end game still had drama as it entered the final 10 minutes, a cross from the right hand side was met well by Mike Sill who headed home, only for the linesman to raise his flag citing a goal kick. Dubious to say the least but credit to the boys for seeing the game out and leaving with a solid point on the board.
The management team were proud of the performance and it shows the mentality of the team to come away from the defending champions with a point and feel like we deserved more.
Next up for us is a home game against Westlands on Saturday!

It might only be matchday 2, but this is a big one. The one we always look for when the fixtures are released.
Champions for the last 2 seasons, Cobham always give us a real test but the boys are bang up for this after last weeks disappointment.
Come down and support the lads, it’s gonna be a belter🔥

False start in season opener❌
Our first game of the season didn’t go to plan as despite a late equaliser we still found ourselves leaving empty handed.
Luca opened his account for the season just before half time to give us the lead after a sublime through ball from Seb saw us take a 1-0 advantage into the break. A penalty early in the second half allowed our visitors to draw level before an error in midfield gifted Puddletown the lead. Luca grabbed his second with 5 minutes to go but 2 goals on the counter in injury time saw the game finish 4-2 to Puddletown.
Thanks to our opponents for the game, we look forward to the reverse fixture later in the season.
Next up for the boys is a huge away fixture at last seasons champions Cobham Sports on Saturday.

Our 2025/26 season gets under way!
The boys begin their new campaign with a home game against a tricky opponent. We have faced Puddletown for the last 2 seasons and they always provide us with a stern test and this weekend is going to be no different.
Come down and support us as we look to get our season off to a flyer!

Poppies brought their pre season to an end last weekend with a dominant performance against Sturminster Marshall.
On a pitch that was in desperate need of some rain and a cut, as well as only having 12 players in the squad, the boys won at a canter with a score line that really could’ve been double figures.
Charlie King finishing with a hat trick, and another 2 for Liam Nixon gives us plenty of momentum rolling into our season opener on Saturday.
Thank you to Sturminster for hosting, we wish them well for the season.
