Petanque is simple, can be competitive, is always fun and players of all standards can enjoy.
Muscliff Park will provide a big welcome to newcomers and can provide all the kit required and even some coaching if you would like.

Today saw the PE Junior Doubles Championships held at Cricklade in Wiltshire. For the past two years the title had been won by Alex and Matthew from Muscliff. This year they went their separate ways and the title went to Whitnash Club in the Heart of England.
Matthew playing with Amy from Coventry qualified for the Gold but then lost to the eventual winners, George & Jayden who were in devastation form. Matthew and Amy had won two in the morning preliminaries but lost to Alex and his partner Connor.
Lewis teamed up its another Alex, they went into the Silver which they went onto win - good performances.
The Muscliff Alex and Connor were in the bronze and they won that competition.
Also playing was Eleanor one of our 10 year olds, she did OK but did not come away with a prize.
You might ask where Aimee was - hiking cross country as she completed her expedition for the DofE Award.

WET WEDNESDAY !!!
Well, I thought (maybe hoped) that no one would turn up. But we seem to have members determined to play, no matter what the skies have in store for us. Steve W assured us rain was not due until 4pm ....... the photo under the tree was 2.30pm! Rain reduced to a drizzle and already drenched, we decided to continue. Then the sun came out and we optimistically started second games. Four finished and got away before the heavens opened up again....the rest of us eventually gave up! Thanks to Jim, Steve and Derek who all helped me lock up.

Wow two Muscliff players in the final of the NFPL Singles - wait a minute, not only two Muscliff’s but two Rickmans! Wow.
Mother and daughter fought it out for the presitigous Forest Singles Crown at Lymington this evening.
At 5-5 it was close and competitive, then Mum Claire stepped on the gas and shot to a 9-5 lead, nearly there, but Aimee would not let Claire claim those final points, she fought back, first with a three and then swept to a 13-9 victory. Another Wow.
A great final between two superb ladies playing great petanque. Well played the Rickman's, especially so young Aimee, another crown for her to wear.
Thanks to Lymington for hosting the event.
Thanks the Neil R for the instant scores, updates and photos:

THIS MORNING!!!!!
Unbelievably, Helen, David, Ian, Carron, Steve W, Stuart C and Jennie on terrain duty turned up and played in this lovely weather. Only polite comments please!
Monarchs v Magic
The Monarchs played the first of two cup matches against Magic this evening.
Thankfully the last of the torrential downpours had passed but we arrived to find the upper terrain partially flooded and decided to play the triples 'sideways' to avoid puddles.
In the triples, Simon, Marilyn and Kelvin raced to a 13 - 0 win against Neil, Stuart and Carole.
The other match was much tighter (and slower!) with Ian, Carron and Brian R catching up to 10 - 10. However, Sean, Trevor and Debs won the final two ends to take the win.
By the time we played the doubles, the terrain was drying, the sun even came out and we reverted to normal play. Simon and Marilyn, who were in top form, were first home with a 13 - 2 win against Neil and Carole. Ian and Carron struggled against Stuart and Sean who had certainly found his form by then and lost 4 - 13. So 2 - 2.
Then the final match that just goes on ... Debs and Trevor managed a healthy lead until Kelvin and Brian started a fight back but eventually lost 5 - 13.
A 3 - 2 win to Magic.
Monarchs welcomed back Kelvin after a long absence due to health issues and he pointed well.
An enjoyable evening with the matches played in good spirit. Carron provided everyone with home made cakes and thanks to Jim and David who came down to support the teams.
Thankfully we only had two matches this evening because half of the lower terrain was completely flooded!
