We’re loving this solo jazz sequence! Nice one Montpel Swing 👌

So far, this is our favourite tune to use for the Tranky Doo routine. What do you think?

(Another nugget from the Swing Shift performance troupe at Hythe & Dibden’s Waterside Heritage Day last month)

A tasty lil chunk of Sausages, the solo jazz routine.

Hats off to our Swing Shift performers for staying cool in the heat a couple of weekends ago at Waterside Heritage Day over in Hythe & Dibden.

🎶 Don’t Mean A Thing – Jonathan Stout

This week’s improver class at BOH Studios: fun with barrel rolls 🛢️ a deceptively tricky move that depends on a few elements of foundational technique for it to work. Plus, spicing up swingouts with twists/swivels for follows.

📢 THIS MONDAY EVENING (27th April): social dancing workshop + social dance!

~~~
Only a few days to go until our monthly social event. See you there?
As usual we're running a class from 7-8pm and there will be social dancing with swing music from 8-10pm.
This time though, the class will focus on something a little different...
It's a WORKSHOP all about SOCIAL DANCING.
We know social dancing can feel pretty hard to navigate. Especially if you're new, but also if you're not new! How do you ask someone for a dance? Can you really ask anyone? Do you always have to say "yes"? How do you get through an endless song introduction where not much happens? How do you adapt to different partners? What if your mind goes blank and you can't remember a single move?
The workshop will cover these questions and more! Our goal is to help you feel confident in the practicalities and etiquette of partner dancing outside of a structured learning environment.
And then you'll immediately have the chance to put it all into practice during the following two hours of social dancing :)
PSST ... if you're an experienced dancer, we really hope you'll come along to this social to support our beginners!
No need to book. Simply £10 on the door in cash or card. (Remember, if you're currently doing one of our courses, you get free entry.)
The venue is BOH Studios, 104 Commercial Road, Bournemouth BH2 5LR.
🚗 Where to park?
The closest public car park is called Avenue Road. You'll also find some on-street parking on the roads nearby which is free in the evenings. Please allow enough time track down an on-street space if that's your plan, and always check the signs for restrictions.
👖What to wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in. We tend to keep things casual ourselves, but some folks like to dress up. It's down to you.
👜 What to bring?
It could get warm, so you might want to bring a spare set of clothes (and some deodorant)! Also, a big bottle of bottle of water to top up your hydration levels. There are hangers for coats at the venue but no cloakroom, so we recommend packing a tidy bag.
🥤 Food and drink?
The venue has a bar selling soft drinks and alcohol, which you're welcome to make use of. Please avoid bringing in your own supplies other than a bottle of water and a snack for afterwards.
❓Any other questions? Comment below or ping us a message, we're here to help.
Looking forward to dancing with you!
