Aspire Adoption Services Aspire Adoption is the Regional Adoption Agency for BCP and Dorset Councils These are BCP Council & Dorset Council.

We are a partnership of two Local Authorities coming together to form one of the first Regional Adoption Agencies in England. Our purpose is to provide outstanding services for children and adults with links to Adoption. Aspire is keen for anyone who is considering adopting to come forward and contact us. The information on our website will answer some of your questions about adoption but we would love to talk to you personally to answer any specific questions you have and to guide you through our process. Aspire will provide you with support from the moment you contact us, through the adoption assessment, the matching and placement of a child or children with you and in the years after an Adoption Order has been made. Aspire also provide services for those who are looking to adopt a partner’s child from a previous relationship, often referred to as a stepparent adoption application, or those who are looking to adopt from overseas. Aspire offers a range of support services to all parties connected with adoption including families who have adopted, adopted adults and birth families. In addition to specialist support services, Aspire provides social events, support groups, training and contact services.

LAST CALL...

Our third Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) course starts 7 October. Delivered with NHS Dorset Healthcare, it offers Aspire Adoption parents the chance to develop mindfulness and compassion-based skills, connect with others, and strengthen wellbeing and resilience.

Course details:
📅 Wednesdays, 7 Oct to 2 Dec 2026 (excl. October half term)
🕙 10AM to 12.30PM
💻 Live online, 8-week course

Facilitators:
• Dr Becky Murray – Clinical Psychologist, Specialist CAMHS for Care, Adoption and Permanence Service
• Tracy Blake – Advanced Social Work Practitioner, Post Adoption Support Team, Aspire Adoption

Join Hayley and Vic on Tuesday 29 September, either in person or online, for an informal catch-up following the summer holidays.

There is no set topic for this session, giving parents the opportunity to share any experiences, challenges or successes they would like support with in a friendly and supportive environment.

We'll also be looking ahead to next year and would love to hear your ideas for future support groups, including topics you'd like us to cover and any guest speakers you'd be interested in hearing from.

STARTING NEXT MONTH - SIGN UP NOW

Following the success of our first Pier 2 Pier after-school support and friendship group in Poole earlier this year, we are now taking registrations for our second group, starting next month in the Christchurch area.

Open to adopted children in school year groups 4, 5 or 6 and who attend schools in the Christchurch area - from Hengistbury Head to Walkford, the group will take place once a week on Tuesdays for one hour after school and will focus on building friendships, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and positive peer connections in a fun and engaging environment.

If you are interested in your child(ren) attending, please email [email protected] with your child(ren)’s full name(s) and please let us know which school they attend. Places are limited, so we encourage families to register their interest as soon as possible, thank you.

Our Under 5s Stay & Play sessions start back from Monday 14th September in the Poole area. We can't wait to see you then!

Your child(ren) will be able to play with other adopted children and children in early permanence placements while you can chat to our friendly staff and discuss any support needs or queries.

You will also have the opportunity to meet other local adoptive families. You are welcome to drop in any time during the sessions.

In collaboration with Adoption UK Charity, Aspire Adoption is offering access to On TRAC, a fully funded 8 session online therapeutic programme for adoptive parents of children aged 0–18.

The course is delivered by psychologists, therapists, and social workers, and provides practical, trauma informed strategies tailored for both younger children and teenagers.

Parents will learn how trauma, attachment, and neurodiversity shape behaviour, along with tools for connection, emotional regulation, and reducing conflict.

Additional benefits include a year of Adoption UK membership and access to a monthly online peer support group for a year following completion of the programme.

Sessions run weekly over eight weeks. Upcoming start dates:
