MATCH REPORT | BINGLEY ATHLETIC 2β1 WBA
What a brilliant game of football!
From 1β0 down to 2β1 winners, the Bingley lads fought hard from the first whistle to the last and showed exactly what this team is about.
WBA caused problems early on and came close from a corner, getting a header towards goal that caught the Bingley defence out. Thankfully, skipper Adam Atkinson produced an unbelievable save to keep the scores level.
WBA continued to push and eventually opened the scoring with a well-taken free kick.
It was a feisty first half, with both teams flying into tackles and battling for every ball. Unfortunately, Bingley went into the break 1β0 down.
The boys came back out for the second half ready to give it everything β and they certainly did.
Jake Walker picked up the ball and drove straight at the WBA defence before getting his shot away. A deflection off the defender completely wrong-footed the keeper and found the back of the net.
1β1!
From there, it was all Bingley.
The winner came through Jack Gillespie. Jake Walker headed the ball into the box, the WBA defender could only head it away and it fell perfectly for Jack, who made absolutely no mistake and slotted it into the back of the net.
BINGLEY 2β1 WBA!
A massive shift from every single one of the lads in a tough, feisty game. They battled, worked for each other and, most importantly, never gave up.
