Really disappointing day at the office for Rangers, the only bright spots were a few decent saves from Cam and an absolute banger of a free kick from Harrison.

County Cup next week let’s show up and try to progress.

🟣🟡 Clayton Rangers FC 2–1 Clayton Celtic 🟢⚪

A local derby, a hard-fought battle and a massive three points for the Rangers!

It wasn’t our best performance by any stretch, but the lads dug deep to come away with a 2–1 victory in this local derby.

Both goals came from long throws by Kian, with Billy and Egghead providing the flick ons. Harrison and Mehmet both found the back of the net to put the Rangers on the scoresheet. ⚽

At the other end, Cam came up huge with a penalty save, before producing another big save right at the end to help secure all three points. 🧤🔥

Josh was solid at the back throughout, putting in a dependable performance.

There were glimpses of progression as a team, with some promising moments in our play, but there’s still plenty of work to do. It was a hardworking, if somewhat underwhelming, performance at times — but in a local derby, three points is three points!

All things considered, a result we’ll take and build on.

Up the Rangers! 🟣🟡

As always thank to our sponsors

🟣🟠 Clayton Rangers FC vs Idle United🟢⚫️

⏰️ 11 am

🗓 30th Aug

📍Clayton Rugby League Club

After last weeks dramatic late winner against Salts, Rangers were positive going into this week but Idle and the footballing gods had other ideas.

Firstly group graphic designer Theo Clegg seemingly went on strike, meaning no fancy graphics to post.

And then 5 of our lads decided to stay in bed rather than turn up, meaning we only had 2 subs and Manager Lazza even had to kit up.

And then Idle simply battered us, the only real bit of light was a stunning 25 yard finish from debutant Jordan Missin.

We couldn’t even make tactical subs as Peace had to leave at half time for work and Brendan pulled up around 70mins so both subs just like for like, patching up.

But we go again, next week we look forward to putting it right against Shelf

Final score Rangers 1.5 Idle

🔴🟡 Clayton Rangers FC vs Salts AFC ⚫️🟢

First home game. New name. New colours. What a way to mark it.

Clayton Rangers played their first home game since the rebrand, proudly sporting our new maroon and gold colours — and what followed was an absolute thriller.

Rangers took the lead midway through the first half when Bodhi Rhodes chased down a loose ball and beat his man before finding Jack Brady, who made no mistake, calmly putting the ball past the keeper.

The visitors responded with a low-driven effort from the edge of the box after their midfielder was allowed to carry the ball forward without being closed down. Kian Simsy then produced a cracking save to keep the scores level.

It was a pretty even first half, with both sides creating opportunities and plenty of battling across the pitch.

Around the midway point of the second half, a shot from outside the area looked destined for the top corner, but Kian in the Rangers goal produced an excellent save to claw it away.

From the resulting corner, Rangers fell behind as a deflected shot found its way into the net. But rather than letting their heads drop, Rangers immediately turned up the pressure.

A corner saw us hit the post before Bodhi somehow managed to hit the bar from what looked like about six yards out. 🤣

With 15 minutes remaining, Rangers really piled on the pressure and eventually got their reward.

Super-sub Jimmy Garrett converted from a corner after the ball was headed back across goal. Kian Murgatroyd’s initial effort was blocked on the line, but Jimmy was in exactly the right place to head home and make it 2-2.

And then came the moment.

With Rangers pushing relentlessly for a winner, the last kick of the game saw Kian bring down a ball from Peace following an Alfie Jex throw-in. He showed brilliant composure and skill to roll past the defender onto his weaker foot before absolutely drilling the ball into the top corner.

2-3. Absolute scenes.

So much so that Clayton Footballing Group chairman Gav Wood celebrated with such enthusiasm that he went straight through the decking on the club balcony! 😂

A superb result and a fantastic comeback from 2-1 down. Full credit to every player for continuing to fight right until the very last kick.

First home game as Clayton Rangers. First game in the new colours. And a last-gasp winner to top it off.

What a start. 🔴🟡
