A strong performance, a clean sheet and, most importantly, Clayton are into the next round! ๐ช
With the rugby season finished for now, it's great to see the HIVE still buzzing and the football lads carrying the Clayton name forward.
Different sport. Same badge. Same community. Same Clayton spirit. โค๏ธ๐
Congratulations to the players, management and everyone involved.

๐ฅ CLAYTON RESPOND IN STYLE.
After a poor league performance last weekend, there was disappointment around the Clayton camp.
Management agreed changes were needed โ not necessarily to personnel, but to the togetherness, belief and mentality of a squad containing plenty of new faces.
The message before kick-off was simple:
โฐ Get there on time.
๐ฅ Warm up properly with Abs.
๐ช Be confident.
๐ค Trust each other.
โฝ And enjoy playing football together.
And that is exactly what they did.
From the first whistle, Clayton were the better side man for man. There was belief in the football, trust between teammates and a real willingness to work for one another.
Clayton repeatedly broke through the Marsden back line, but the final product just wasn't quite there.
Then came a moment of absolute quality.
โฝ 1โ0 โ DANNY TAYLOR
Incoming skipper Danny Taylor, playing at centre-half, watched a beautifully weighted ball drop over his shoulder around 20 yards from goal.
No panic. No second touch needed.
Half-volley. Top corner. ๐ฏ
An outstanding finish to give Clayton the lead.
From there, the confidence grew. Clayton pressed and pressed, creating opportunities but just couldn't find the finish to match the build-up play.
โฑ๏ธ HALF-TIME: 1โ0
There was little for management to change at the break. The game was going Clayton's way and the message was simply to keep doing the job.
Playing downhill in the second half, it was much the same story.
Clayton were punishing in midfield, solid at the back and creating chances โ but that second goal wouldn't come.
The bench was strong and, although the lads on the pitch were still running, it was time to use it.
๐ช Big Bally went up top to add some physicality and almost made an immediate impact.
Further changes followed.
Hammad came in to settle the midfield and Paolo added fresh energy to the attack. Paolo almost made an instant impact himself, cutting inside after taking on two players before rattling the bar. ๐ฅ
That extra injection lifted Clayton again.
Pressure built. Corners followed.
Then step forward Kallum Towey.
Outstanding defensively all afternoon. Strong, composed and almost impossible to get through.
Turns out the lad can attack a corner as well โ although we already knew that.
โฝ 2โ0 โ KALLUM TOWEY
๐ฅ BOOM.
From there, it became one-way traffic.
The lads were playing with smiles on their faces, moving the ball, backing each other and enjoying every minute of it.
Clayton could easily have added a third, fourth or even fifth, but 2โ0 was enough to book our place in the next round of the Hancock Cup.

And those decisions weren't easy.
There were genuine shouts all over the pitch. From front to back, this was one of those performances where almost anyone could have walked away with the recognition. That's probably the biggest compliment we can give the squad today.
๐ Credit to every player who started and every lad who came from the bench.
It was a pleasure to watch and a thoroughly deserved win.
More importantly, it looked like a team.
Enjoy the result. Enjoy the moment. But don't get carried away.
We've still got levels to climb โ but today showed exactly what this squad can become when we climb them together.
