Secured Homes CC win by 73 runs to remain top of the Jinnah Section! 💙🧡

The biggest fixture of the season saw the top two sides meet at Bowling Old Lane Cricket Club, with first place on the line. Having turned the ground into a fortress throughout 2026, Secured Homes knew a win would send another strong message to the league.

Conditions were tricky from the outset. Light rain fell during warm-ups and lingered into the start of play. A cool breeze, 19°C temperatures, and occasional sunshine made life difficult for batters, with the pitch offering consistent assistance for bowlers.

Tabs CC won the toss and chose to field.

Secured Homes were immediately under pressure against a disciplined attack. Openers Arsaam Malik and Raqeeb Younis quickly realised runs would be hard to come by. Arsaam fought hard for 11 off 19 balls, striking two boundaries before edging to gully.
At the other end, Raqeeb Younis played a vital, understated innings. His 12 off 53 balls was built on patience and discipline, anchoring the early overs on a difficult surface. Zarak Khan added momentum with a positive 20 off 33 balls, looking to counter-attack. However, the innings wobbled as Secured Homes lost three wickets for just eight runs, with Zarak, Raqeeb, and Zahid Nissar all falling in quick succession. At 62/4, Tabs had control.

But as the saying goes…
Form is temporary. Class is permanent.

Captain Nayyar Abbas and Usman “Benny” Arshad steadied the innings brilliantly. Fresh from a match-winning knock in the Bradford League, Benny once again showed his quality under pressure. The pair added a crucial 50-run partnership, shifting momentum back to Secured Homes. Nayyar played a composed 30 off 45 balls, while Benny anchored the innings with a superb 50 off 73 balls — an effort far greater than the numbers suggest on a tough pitch.
His control, patience, and shot selection rebuilt the innings at a critical stage.

🌟 DEBUT MOMENT

A special moment came as Mushy Shah made his Secured Homes debut in a high-pressure top-of-the-table clash. The young batter and leg-spinner showed real composure, settling into the occasion and gaining valuable experience at a crucial stage of the season.
Late fireworks came from Jack Rodgers, who struck a fearless 13 off 6 balls* (SR 216.67) to lift the total.
Secured Homes finished on 180/9, securing maximum batting points and a strong total.

☕ MATCH TEA

Another excellent tea and a wonderful showcase of the hospitality of Secured Homes CC off the field was provided by MNA Snooker & Leisure Centre. Huge thanks to Mansha Khan, Amjad, and the team for a superb spread of food, desserts, cakes, and traditional desi tea. Players, officials, and supporters all enjoyed a fantastic interval — a true reminder of grassroots cricket at its best.

Defending 180, early wickets were key.

Openers Jack Rodgers and Nayyar Abbas bowled with discipline and movement, asking constant questions.
The experienced opening pair of A Hameed and Muaaz resisted early, with Muaaz top-scoring for Tabs with 32, but the introduction of spin changed everything.

👑 KEZ “THE DON” AHMED

Once Kez Ahmed entered the attack, the game shifted completely. With control, flight, and sharp turn, he tore through the middle order. At the other end, Zahid Nissar was outstanding, building relentless pressure and giving nothing away.

The fielding intensity matched the bowling — tight lines, sharp stops, and constant pressure.

A defining moment came when Zohaib Ashraf lofted a drive, only for Zahid Nissar to produce a stunning diving catch running in from the boundary. A game-changing moment that lifted the entire ground.

Tabs CC were bowled out for 107, giving Secured Homes a 73-run victory and another 20 league points.

This was more than a win — it was a statement. Against their closest rivals, Secured Homes showed resilience with the bat, discipline in rebuilding, elite fielding standards, and ruthless bowling under pressure.

The champions remain firmly in control at the top of the table.
