Ahoy, Pirates!

What a warm welcome we have had into 2026, practices are back up and running after the winter break, and we are ready to go!

We had ourselves a friendly match against our sister club Bath Romans Wheelchair Basketball Club on Sunday, and it was so much fun!

Thank you so much to Robin for stepping up for us as coach of our Pirates ship this weekend they did an amazing job and Katherine when she hopped back on deck for the second match, thank you both so much!

We took these lovely photos of the team who were there on Sunday (after the match of course to make sure the sweat really makes us look glowing 😍)

I’m sure the videos of Sunday will be up on the Bath Romans YouTube channel soon if you want to go watch.

Keep your non-eye-patched eye out on our social media pages for more updates on what the Pirates get up to, we still have a whole year of pirating to get up to! See you soon!

Ahoy!

What a wonderful weekend, the pirates certainly gave it there all this weekend with three matches across the day, all of which have been live streamed and uploaded onto our YouTube page

One of our matches was against our sister club
Bath Romans Wheelchair Basketball Club so to watch that match go over to the bath romans YouTube channel. Spoiler alert! The pirates managed to come out victorious this time and with the friendly competition between the two teams and it being the pirates only win of the day it was certainly a tense match. I’ll be posting on Facebook and Instagram a short video of the first basket of each game from the pirates, as so to lore 🎣 you in to go have a look at the rest of those games on the YouTube channel so keep an AYE out 🏴‍☠️

Big well done to all our players that scored on Sunday that’s, Harris, Aspen, Katherine, Elliot and Keira. And as always big thank you to rich our ever supportive coach

The scores for all the games are as follows:
Sparrows v pirates 39-2
Magic v pirates 24-10
Pirates v romans 22-19

Thank you so much for everyone who works over in Egham to put on the games and to Nova sports for helping us get equipment there and for all the players who played on Sunday, good job guys

Ahoy!

What an absolutely phenomenal day at Egham on Sunday. The pirates winning 2 trophies: most improved team and (spoiler alert) 2nd in the division 3 league!!! 🥳

The pirates went against the Exeter Otters for the morning semifinals and won the game 32-20! An excellent performance from both teams, well done pirates for pulling through

Then I’m the afternoon we went head to head in the finals against The Aces. The scores were near to tied by the end of the first half but unfortunately for the pirates the Aces played hard and fast for second half and ended up winning 30-17. It was an absolutely amazing game, we’ll get them next season pirates! 🏴‍☠️

if you missed the finals you can find it on the second half of the Bath romans game on the link below, an excellent game from the Bath Romans Wheelchair Basketball Club first team coming in 2nd in division 1 and their team 2 beating out the Oxford team 27-11 and amazing job guys

Some special mentions congratulations to robin and James our wonderful captain for scoring their first basket in a game.
We had 2 players make their debut, Kez (88) and Keira (7) who were fabulous especially considering their first games being the semi finals and finals and Kez even scored a 2 pointer in the first half!

A massive well done to Zack who was absolutely our MVP, scoring a crazy three pointer with seconds to go and who was also the birthday boy on the same day, what an excellent birthday present! Happy birthday Zack

More Egham games are still to come over the summer. The next games are June 8th so keep an eye out. Even if you’re overseas on holiday you can still support from afar by tuning in on our YouTube

Also go check out the UWE pirates new TikTok account we’ll be beginning to post on there real soon
