Not every back take needs speed. Sometimes itβs just about the right grips, the right angle, and perfect timing.
This sequence shows how a few small grip changes from De La Riva can completely change the position and open a clean path to the back.
The details matter. Slow it down, understand the mechanics, then make it your own.

Dream. Believe. Achieve.
Looking back at one of the most memorable moments of my jiu-jitsu journey-rolling with Gui Mendes at AOJ.
Every round was a lesson in precision, timing, and efficiency. Experiences like this continue to shape the way I train and the way I teach at Art of Movement.
Always grateful. Always learning. π₯π

Every submission is just the beginning of the next attack.
π Shoulder lock β front roll.
π Follow and switch to the Kimura grip.
βοΈ Attack the scissor choke.
πͺ€ If they escape, enter the Kimura trap.
𦡠Slide the knee through, secure the hook, and hunt the one-hand choke.
π€ If they defend, transition to the rear naked choke.
π₯ Last line of defence? Belly-down armbar.
Donβt fall in love with one technique. Fall in love with the transitions.
The goal isnβt to force a submission-itβs to stay one step ahead until they run out of escapes.
Flow over force. Position over power.
Hands. Elbows. Knees. Kicks.
Different tools.
Same purpose.
Move well.
Stay sharp.
Keep learning.
The work never stops.

Your body keeps score.
Every hour sitting.
Every missed workout.
Every shortcut.
But it also remembers every stretch, every walk, every training session and every effort to take care of yourself.
This isnβt about becoming an athlete.
Itβs about staying capable.
Being able to move well, play, train and enjoy life when others are already slowing down.
