Do these 3 things before you do anything else!

A simple tweak could be all your little one needs.

When I work with a new family, I always check the basics first, as any other changes you make will have minimal impact until you have these right!

💡 LIGHT - Is the room as dark as possible? Light signals cortisol (the awake hormone), darkness signals melatonin (the sleepy one!). Keep it as dark as possible.

🌡️ TEMPERATURE - Is the room between 16°C and 20°C? Too hot or cold disrupts sleep. A cool, consistent temperature is optimal.

💥 NOISE - Is something waking your little one up? Heating, traffic, dogs, alarm clocks, siblings? Eliminate noises or use white noise as a sound blocker placed between your little one and the source.

⭐️ Before changing anything else around sleep, nail the basics first ⭐️

If you’ve checked all 3 of these and your little one’s sleep still isn’t improving, that’s where I come in, and I’d love to help!

It’s crucial that any changes you make to your little one’s sleep are practical and sustainable for you. Otherwise they’ll be impossible to stick to and you’ll end up resorting to old habits.

One myth I hear a lot is: “You have to stay home for all naps to get your little one’s sleep right!”

For me, this is both impractical and unsustainable, and definitely not something I teach in my sleep plans!

Most families I work with appreciate flexibility, and that’s exactly what I believe in and make sure is part of all the plans I build.

✨You do not have to stay home all day or have all naps in the cot in order to improve sleep!✨

Depending on your little one’s age, I recommend one nap a day in the cot. This is enough to keep up the practice and familiarity of sleeping in the cot, which then helps your little one feel more comfortable sleeping in the cot at night.

As a rough guide:

💤 3+ naps a day - try to do one nap a day in the cot (first nap of the day is the easiest)

💤 2 naps a day - try to do one nap a day in the cot (or at least one every other day)

💤 1 nap a day - try to have a nap in the cot at least every 2-3 days to keep up the practice

This is a rough guide and will need to be tweaked based on your little one’s temperament and your own lifestyle too.

You feel like you’ve just settled into a 3 nap structure and suddenly it’s all changing again!

If your little one is around 7-9 months old, you’ve likely reached that point where 3 naps is too many to fit in, but 2 naps is not enough, and knowing how to manage it feels like a daily game of nap roulette!

❗But the BIGGEST MISTAKE I see?

Having 2 naps that finish by early-mid afternoon, leaving you with a 4-5 hour stretch until bedtime that your baby simply isn’t capable of staying awake for happily!
This means your baby will be exhausted come early evening which has a big impact on overnight sleep.

It also means your bedtime routine will be rushed as you try to get through it quickly, and baby will likely fall asleep halfway through their final feed meaning they don’t take in enough milk before bed!

⭐ So what can you do instead?

😴  Know that it’s a transition phase meaning some days need 2 naps, some need 3. Don’t rush to have 2 naps every day!

😴  Cap the third nap at 15 minutes before dropping it altogether.

😴  On 2 nap days, make sure the naps are spread evenly, so you don’t end up with a long wake window before bedtime (this is absolutely key to overnight sleep). This will mean stretching wake windows throughout the day, especially the first one, to make sure you’re not done with day sleep by 3pm!

😴  Bring bedtime forward if naps do finish early.

😴  Use a short 10-15 minute bridging nap to help bridge gaps. e.g. if you find yourself with a 4-5 hour wake window, bridge it with a 10-15 minute sleep to ease sleep pressure. This is best used either between nap 1 and 2, or between nap 2 and bedtime.

The 3 to 2 nap transition is a really hard one to get right, and if it’s one you’re currently struggling with, DM me ‘NAPS’ and I’ll help you navigate it.

Sounds almost unbelievable, right?

When I started working with Ellie and her partner they were at their wits end, stuck in a cycle of feeding and rocking to sleep every 2 hours through the night, and only being able to nap their little one in the pram.

It had become unsustainable for them both and they were desperate for change, but didn’t want to leave their little one to cry-it-out.

Making change isn’t always easy. There were tough nights along the way, but with my support, reassurance, and experience to be able to adapt the plan as we went to make sure it worked for both Mum and Dad and for little one, Ellie and her partner absolutely smashed it!

They were both ready and committed to making change, and the results speak for themselves.

By the end of their plan their little one was self settling, sleeping 11+ hour stretches, and had moved into her own room.

Mum and Dad had their evenings back and finally felt rested enough to thoroughly enjoy their days with their little one!

✨If you’d like to be leaving a review like this in just 2 weeks, DM me ‘PLAN’ and I’ll send the details of the plan Ellie and her partner were on straight to your inbox!✨

Can AI improve your little one’s sleep? I put it to the test so you don’t have to!

💻 The experiment
I gave AI real sleep logs from a 6 month old waking every 2 hours (with parents’ full consent) plus everything needed for a tailored plan: sleep goals, temperament, family dynamics, feeding patterns, sleep environment.

I updated AI daily with how baby ‘responded’ (this was made up based on my knowledge and experience) and asked it to adjust the plan where needed.
Just like working with me... right?

💻 Here’s what I discovered:
❗ Problem #1: AI used averages, not individual needs
I create plans based on YOUR baby’s individual needs after thoroughly reviewing 3+ days of detailed logs combined with my knowledge and experience. AI used average wake windows and sleep amounts.
Your baby isn’t average. Your plan shouldn’t be either!

❗ Problem #2: AI gave options, not clear guidance
I offer clear advice and accountability. AI suggested multiple options and left parents to decide.
The overwhelm of conflicting advice is exactly what you’re trying to avoid!

❗ Problem #3: AI couldn’t tell when to adapt Vs stay consistent
Through experience, I know when to adapt your plan or when to keep going. AI couldn’t differentiate.
This is where real support can be worth more than the plan itself!

❗ Problem #4: AI’s emotional support was bland
When we work together, I’m part of your journey. I offer real support based on empathy, knowledge and experience. I’m your biggest cheerleader!

💻 The verdict?
AI can’t replace human experience and knowledge, or the ability to truly understand YOUR baby and support YOU.

Real knowledge, experience, empathy and support gets real, long-lasting results.

If you’re ready for change but feel overwhelmed about where to start, I’d love to help you.

This guide is for anyone currently struggling with the number of times their little one is waking through the night.

I speak to families every day who are dealing with wake-ups ranging from every 20 minutes to every 2 hours through the night, and I see how unsustainable it is for everyone.

For the mum who just wants the energy to enjoy her baby during the day.

For the mum who has to go to work on fragmented sleep.

For the mum who doesn’t feel like herself anymore.

For the mum who just needs her evenings back.

I see you. And I want you to know that you’re not alone.

I’ve supported over 300 families to overcome night wakings in a gradual and responsive way, and I’ve put the 3 biggest reasons I see for multiple wakings in the night (and how to overcome them) into a completely FREE guide.

What’s inside:

⭐ Settling - the role it plays in night wakings and exactly what you can do about it

⭐ Sleep amounts and routines - why they impact night wakings more than most parents realise, and my top tips to improve them

⭐ Your little one’s sleep environment - what you didn’t realise could be affecting their sleep and the quick wins to fix it

And more!

Follow the link in my bio to download your free guide, or DM me ‘GUIDE’ and I’ll send it straight to your inbox.

I hope it helps!

It’s the one thing that’s often missing from your little one’s sleep routine, and many families I speak to don’t really know what it means.

Yes.. Consistency! But what does this mean to you?

Consistency doesn’t mean doing the same bedtime routine every night.

It doesn’t mean putting your little one down for naps and bed at the same time every day.

And it doesn’t mean waking them at the same time each morning.

So what does it mean?

⭐ It means finding an approach to settling that you can use consistently every single time you settle your little one in their cot. Bedtimes, night wakings (unless they’re due a feed), and any naps in the cot ⭐

A lot of families I speak to have multiple ways to settle their little one, switching from one to another when one doesn’t work straight away.

You try rocking your little one to sleep, but it doesn’t work so you feed them.

You try shushing and patting them in the cot, but it doesn’t work so you rock them.
Sound familiar?

But what’s actually happening here is that your little one doesn’t have a familiar way to get to sleep. Things are different each time, and they don’t really know what they’re meant to do.

⭐ Consistency means creating a way that you’re comfortable with, to settle your little one to sleep in the exact same way every time ⭐

This creates familiarity and confidence for your little one so they can feel happy and secure in their sleep space.

Consistency really is king, but I know it can also feel daunting.

If you’re struggling to find a consistent way to settle your little one, I would love to support you. I teach real, practical strategies to help you create a comforting and familiar settling approach that works for your family, time and time again.
