Sunday 17th May was the final session of our ⭐️Squash Stars⭐️ programme and we had such a fun time!
The final theme was ‘helpful’ to complete our SQUASH acronym.
We started with the kids “tidying their rooms” so they each had a 1/6th of the court and had to keep all of the balls out of their space.
Our last activity was to split the kids into pairs and practise wall taps! So using rackets, our stars had to try and hit the ball against the wall to each other, trying to build a rally between themselves. Depending on ability, the activity was adjusted so everybody could practise their skills.
At the end of the session, we presented our stars with the final sticker for their cards and a very special medal each! They’ve been such a joy to coach and we’re looking forward to some of them joining our next block of sessions that begin in two weeks🫶🏻

Two weeks ago, 18 members of the squash club enjoyed a social day out in Manchester!
Starting with lunch at Banyan (whose idea was it to order a cocktail tree?!), we then headed to Boom Battle Bar for pool, beer pong, VR darts and VR golf! I wish I could remember who won what but my memory fails me - I think we’re all better at squash though…
Thanks to Matt for the photos as I completely forgot to take any🤣
Huge shout out to the club for being full of such sociable and wonderful people🫶🏻
Let’s see where the next social takes us🥳

This week, our ⭐ Squash Stars ⭐ session had the theme ‘Understand,’ whereby games required problem solving, listening, and observation.
Our stars played a game of ‘Cross the Lava,’ where they had to work together to make it to the other side of the court using specific stepping stones (markers!)
Next up was ‘Ball Strike’ - this was a memory test where the kids had to recall which ball was hit from which marker and in which order. They had to run back to the ‘T’ after each turn - an important reminder for gameplay.
Finally, things got a bit louder for the stars as we focused on hitting targets on the front wall with lots of “BOUNCE” and “HIT” shouts!
Another week, another fab session! See you all next week✨

Sunday 19th April 2026
Our second ⭐️Squash Stars⭐️ session!
Last week was all about ‘space’ and this week’s theme was ‘quick’🏃♂️💨
The children participated in some drills such as using a racquet to guide a ball around some cones before practising hitting a ball that was fed to them by a coach. The children were in teams and worked quickly to get the most possible points for their team!
We also played a game of dodgeball, and I’m not sure whether the kids or the coaches enjoyed this more… we had to run quickly to pick up a ball and then try and hit members of the opposite team. If somebody was hit, they’d run to the T (centre of the court) and hold their arms up like a ‘T’ until their team member ran under to unfreeze them!
Well done, squash stars, you were brilliant 🥳

Last Sunday, we had our first session of ⭐️Squash Stars⭐️
The theme for this week was ‘Space,’ encouraging children to be aware as they move around the court and give themselves space in terms of playing when there’s a ball involved!
Games included mirroring (starting with the leader and then the children took turns leading!), wall taps, throwing and catching, and using a racket to balance balloons and balls.
Looking forward to next week’s session already 🥳
