🌱 GREENS REPORT | LOOKING AHEAD TO WINTER

Planning is well underway for our winter works programme, alongside ongoing improvements to the greens, tees, bunkers and the course as a whole.

☀️ SUMMER RECAP

It was an extremely dry summer, keeping our greenkeeping team particularly busy. Alongside their usual seasonal work, the team have:

• Carried out extensive hand-watering of greens and run-off areas
• Continued regular cutting of greens and tees
• Raked all bunkers twice a week
• Completed machinery servicing and maintenance ahead of schedule
• Carried out further repairs to our ageing irrigation system as the dry ground caused movement and additional leaks
• Continued mapping the course for our robot mowers
• Worked extensively on planning for our new irrigation system

A huge thank you to our greenkeeping team for all their hard work throughout a challenging summer. 👏

💧 NEW IRRIGATION SYSTEM

We’re pleased to announce that the contract for our new irrigation system and mains water upgrade has now been signed.

Irritech Ltd, who designed the system, have also been appointed as Project Manager.

Work is expected to begin towards the end of November or early December, subject to suitable ground conditions.

Importantly, the full replacement irrigation system will now be installed this winter, rather than being split across two winters.

We’ll provide regular updates before and throughout the project, while doing everything we can to minimise disruption to golf.

🔧 CURRENT FOCUS

Despite the change in season, dry conditions are continuing, so you may still see our team hand-watering areas of the course and using hose sprinklers.

More updates on the winter works programme and irrigation project will follow soon.

🌱 Thank you for your continued patience and support as we continue to improve the course.

🏆 Junior Inter-Club Trophy - Semi-Final ⛳

A fantastic effort from our juniors on Sunday as they travelled to Brampton Park Golf Club for the semi-final of the Junior Inter-Club Trophy.

Playing Greensomes match play, the team narrowly missed out, losing 2–1, with two of the three matches going all the way to the 18th in a closely fought contest.

👏 Well done to James Nelson & Ollie Douglas, Ellie Stubbings & Immy Sandhurst, and Jack Hames & Felix Day for competing brilliantly throughout the competition and getting Girton all the way to the semi-final.

A great experience for the juniors playing away from home, and plenty to be proud of! 💙

Well done, juniors! 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

The morning after the day before.

36 holes, two rounds, and everything golf should be. Explosive golf, long putts holed under pressure, incredible shots and no shortage of missed opportunities too. But if there is one thing nobody can take away from yesterday, it is the endurance, skill and love of the game shown by 54 competitors out at The Peaks.

Thank you to everyone who took part

The Club Championship Handicap Trophy went all the way to a three-hole playoff, with Gavin Dolling, Jack Thorpe and James B Williams all finishing locked together on 134 strokes. It was Jack who came through in the end, holing a birdie on the 18th to win it on the third playoff hole. Fantastic effort from Gavin and James; what a battle.

Scratch Club Champion is Jack Thorpe with 136. Second place goes to Zac Cooke on 138, with Paul Tiplady third on 142

And with the season now complete, the Order of Merit champions are confirmed. Net Champion, Jaco Cronje on 404. Scratch Champion, Jack Thorpe on 422.

Congratulations to Jaco and Jack, and congratulations to every single person who competed this year. Thank you.

The full gallery will be with you shortly. Happy Sunday.
