Regular classes have now finished for our August break, and we look forward to seeing new and returning dancers when classes resume on the 1st September 2026.

Does your dancer want to keep up their training throughout the summer? We have our summer school with one day left to book, running from Monday 17th August - Friday 21st August at Livsey Hall, Llanishen, from 9:30-4pm each day.

For dancers wishing to refine their technique and work on their individual goals over summer 1-1 lessons are available in the studio or online.

Wanting to join us in September? We have limited spaces available in all our classes for new students aged 2 through adult in Royal Academy of Dance Ballet, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Tap, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Modern, and Contemporary. With a maximum class size of 10 students per class to ensure individualised attention, enabling progression towards excellence in technique and performance. Our dancers had an amazing time performing for the residents at Ty Enfys Care Home in Pentwyn yesterday afternoon.

Caerwyn, Matilda, Isabelle, and Seren danced with determination, focus, internal motivation, joy and collaboration to share the magic of dance with the residents. We are immensely proud of their performance.

Seren shone in her Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Grade 1 Tap Examination this morning after studying with dedication, determination and intrinsic motivation for the past 18 months.

Seren embodied our mission this morning, showcasing that embracing your dreams, chasing them with courage, overcoming challenges, and surrounding yourself with positivity play an important role in your growth towards excellence in technique and performance as a dancer.

Preparing for ISTD Tap examinations at all levels requires self-discipline, independence, focus, creativity, internal motivation and a strong work ethic. Seren has consistently attended classes, supporting her technical and artistic progression and allowing her to perform to a high standard in her examination today at the age of 10. Seren has focused on refining her rhythm and clarity of beating whilst also learning new movements, which will provide her with a strong technical foundation to build upon as she commences her studies of ISTD Grade 2 tap, from September 2026, where new challenges await.

Whilst Seren is such a dedicated and focused young dancer, she also has a huge personality and enjoys our positive environment. When mentor and En Pointe Theatre Arts founder Miss Danielle asked Seren what her favourite part of her examination was, she enjoyed the “hair gel”. She loved having her hair in French braids and the coldness of the gel.

Entering the examination room independently takes immense courage, and Seren shone in a true reflection of her name, which means star. 🌟

The self-discipline and intrinsic motivation of a dedicated young dancer: Royal Academy of Dance Grade 1 Ballet Dancer Matilda

Yesterday evening En Pointe Theatre Arts Royal Academy of Dance Grade 1 Ballet dancer Matilda arrived early to the studio and instead of just waiting for her peers took out her skipping rope and started skipping, and as soon as Miss Danielle had finished putting up the ballet barre for classes Matilda walked over to the barre checked her posture in the mirror and started practicing her pliés like the older dancers.

Matilda is the perfect example of our commitment to excellence in technique and performance along with our value of dream. Watching our dancers develop focus, determination, internal motivation and self discipline to practice without being asked and because they truly love the art form and are wanting to improve their own technical and artistic performance as dancers as they grow.

Excellence is built in quiet, focused, disciplined practice both independently and under the guidance of the dancer's educator. We are extremely proud of the dedication Matilda showcases in her classes every week and look forward to her shining not in one lead role but two lead roles in our Snow White production in December 2026.

Miss Danielle and Mali 🐾 are working on brand new En Pointe Theatre Arts handbooks for new families joining our community. Is there anything when you or your dancer joined our community which would have been helpful to know in advance that we can add to aid or new future dance families 💜🩷🩵

Your dancer has been in class for years, so why does their technique still feel stuck?

Here’s something most parents don’t know: in the UK, there is no legal requirement for a dance school owner or teacher to hold qualifications in pedagogy, teaching and learning styles, or a dancer’s anatomy and physiology. Anyone can open a dance school, regardless of their understanding of technique or how to develop it safely.

We often see the impact of this. Families join us frustrated that months, sometimes years, of lessons haven’t translated into real progress. And it isn’t only children; we’ve worked with adult dancers who trained throughout childhood and still carry a loss of confidence because they were never taught to understand their own bodies.

One of our adult students began pointe work before she was physically, mentally and emotionally ready. Nobody explained what her body needed first. That single decision, made without the right knowledge, shaped how she felt about her dancing for years afterwards.

This is exactly why qualification matters; it is the difference between a dancer who is guided safely and one who is left to figure it out alone. As one of our dancers put it after moving to us from another studio: at her previous school, she was simply expected to already know what she was doing, whereas here, every dancer is welcomed and supported, no matter where they’re starting.

At En Pointe Theatre Arts, our founder holds a Royal Academy of Dance Initial Teaching Certificate, alongside qualifications with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and Progressing Ballet Technique, has completed a degree in Dance Education, and continues ongoing professional development.

Classes are capped at 10 dancers, so every dancer is seen, heard and taught to understand their own technique.

The results speak for themselves: across our most recent class examinations, we have a 100% pass rate, with the majority of dancers achieving high merit or distinction.

Mali is En Pointe Theatre Arts' newest and possibly the cutest and fluffiest ISTD Mock Examiner 🐾🩰

When preparing for examinations, the pressure to do well and achieve perfection can feel overwhelming. However, we believe examination students should remain focused, professional, and determined, with the occasional fluffy and cuddly companion.

Today, Seren walked into the studio prepared for her ISTD Grade 1 Tap mock examination with Miss Danielle in preparation for her ISTD Grade 1 Tap examination next sunday 26th July 2026. Seren's focus on achieving excellence in her technique and artistic performance as a student who studies multiple genres recreationally whilst attending full-time school as a dancer who wishes to pursue a career in dance showcases dedication, determination, focus, self-discipline, internal motivation and strong work ethic within the studio during her class time and any additional rehearsals.

As Seren’s exam is held remotely with her examiner receiving footage, we practice using the tripod and setting the environment as it will be on exam day. We share this footage with candidates’ parents so they can watch back, supporting technical and artistic progression and building confidence. Whilst Miss Danielle is normally acting examiner for mock and remote exams, today Seren was supervised by a 25-week-old Maltese named Mali, aka Examiner Mali 🐶🐾

From the examiner’s table, Mali observed Seren’s performance, checked her positioning on camera, and controlled the music for Seren’s exercises.

Following Seren’s mock examination, she had lots of cuddles with examiner Mali, a well-deserved reward for her focus, determination, and high level of technical and artistic performance during her mock.

Seren studies a range of genres with us at En Pointe Theatre Arts, including RAD Grade 2 Ballet, RAD Grade 3 Ballet, ISTD Grade 1 Tap, and ISTD Grade 2 Modern Theatre incorporating creative movement. Seren is also known to our lower school students as our Future Teacher Level 1 student assistant on Saturday mornings.

Summer school Guest teacher Spotlight ✨

Professional actress and acting tutor Ruth Sparkes will be joining us and mentoring our students in physical acting techniques during our summer school at Livsey Hall, Llanishen, Cardiff. Sumer school is the 17th August - 21st August 2026 from 9:30-4.

Ruth is a Cardiff-based actor and facilitator with many years of experience working with actors and creatives. She trained at GSA and graduated from their BA Acting programme in 2022. From there she work with Peer Productions a theatre arts charity for 3 years. With Peer she worked with actors at the start of their acting journey, developing their curriculum, directing plays and teaching acting techniques. Ruth has taught actors of all ages from 6 years old to adults. As a performer she is particularly invested in movement and puppetry. She has worked with and taught Laban’s Efforts for actor movement and character development, has trained with Blind Summit Puppetry as well as R&Ding with them. She has toured both in the UK and abroad, worked on shorts films, theatre and voice over.

Summer school is suitable for ages 6-14 years pr Primary to Grade 3 or 4 ballet level. There is a maximum of 10 students with limited spaces remaining. If you would like to register your dancer for a week of body conditioning, ballet, contemporary, and flexibility along with a acting workshop run by Ruth, and classes in Modern/Jazz, choreography, irish dance and tap.

Commence a dance journey as a quiet, observant 2-year-old in Tiny Ballet, and by age 3, successfully complete her first official Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Examination. ✨

Meet 4-year-old Marta. 🩰

When Marta first stepped into our studio, she was quiet, focused and observant. She used her curiosity and imagination to develop her technical and artistic performance as a young dancer, and she has shone in everything she has done. 🌟

Marta's progression and work ethic are inspirational.

In summer 2025, at just 3 years old, Marta stood amongst 5- and 6-year-olds independently and with focus, leading to her successful completion of the Royal Academy of Dance Pre-Primary in Dance Class Examination. During the spring term this year, she successfully completed her ISTD Pre-Primary Tap examination at age 4 amongst 5- and 6-year-olds. As a determined, focused, and internally motivated young dancer at age 4, Marta has transitioned to studying the technical and artistic requirements of both the RAD Primary in Dance Ballet syllabus and the ISTD Primary Tap syllabus. ⭐

Entering regulated examinations takes courage, determination, focus, confidence, independence, self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation. Marta faces every new challenge with a positive work ethic, which is inspirational for a young dancer.

At En Pointe Theatre Arts, we believe every dancer should have access to professional-standard dance training, regardless of their aspirations, with separate divisions based on their goals. We value excellence in technique and performance through a structured learning environment that allows students to progress at their own pace and receive individual feedback in small classes of no more than 10 dancers. This allows us to learn our dancers' learning preferences and needs and tailor classes to help them achieve their full potential.

Marta’s journey reflects our studio culture, showing that when children are part of a structured, positive and supportive community where they belong, creativity, imagination, focus, and determination shine through. 🌈
