En Pointe Theatre Arts Royal Academy of Dance Grades 2 and 3 ballet student Seren practising her RAD Grade 2 Turns exercise using a rhythmic gymnastics ball 🩰🤸♂️. This innovative training was included in Miss Danielle’s dissertation for her continuing studies as a qualified teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance 📚. She researched the potential benefits of incorporating rhythmic gymnastics apparatus into ballet training, focusing on Grade 2 ballet students and their transfer-of-weight and turns. After achieving successful results in enhancing our dancers’ technical and artistic performance through this training methodology, we have continued to utilise the rhythmic gymnastics apparatus across a variety of our classes to aid their development, and we are excited by their progress 🌟.
At En Pointe Theatre Arts, one of our core values is excellence ⭐. We believe every dancer deserves access to high-quality dance training led by qualified teachers committed to continuous professional development 📚. Over the past two years, our principal, Miss Danielle, has exemplified this value by continuing her teacher training beyond completing her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance 🎓. She is now in the final weeks of her BA in Dance Education with the Royal Academy of Dance, which enables her to further enhance our dancers’ training and explore new methods that inspire them to achieve excellence in both technical and artistic performance 🌟.
Thank you to our RAD Grade Two ballet students Seren Lea and Hazel for supporting Miss Danielle throughout the research process by participating in the teaching interventions and sharing their insights on the training methods during classes 🙏🩰💡.
Let’s continue to dance, learn, and grow together 🩰📚✨. Dance is a lifelong journey that teaches us to embrace our dreams, chase them with courage, overcome challenges, and surround yourself with positivity 💪💫🌈.

Exciting news! 📸✨ We’re thrilled to announce a special opportunity for our dancers to shine—professional ballet photos will be taken during our recreational classes on Thursday, 25th and Saturday, 27th June 2026, by professional dance photographer Dusty Miller.
Opportunities like these help us celebrate our dancers’ growth—both technically and artistically—as they develop into confident, expressive individuals. 🌟 These sessions are not only fun but also a chance for your dancer to get involved by suggesting creative photo ideas! To help everyone look and feel their best, please ensure your dancer comes to class in full, correct uniform (including a change of uniform for tap and modern, if needed) and with hair in a ballet bun or cross-over braids. If you’re unsure, just ask your teacher ahead of time. We’ve seen how these sessions boost self-confidence, creativity, and communication—making a real, positive impact on our dancers’ journey!
Participation is always optional—your dancer’s happiness and comfort come first! If you prefer not to have your dancer photographed, just let us know on the photo permission form. We’ll ensure that only those with permission are included, and our staff and photographer will handle this with care and respect. You can feel confident that privacy and consent are top priorities throughout this exciting experience.

In the Cecchetti method, pliés at the barre traditionally begin in the second position.
Why this specific start?
One perspective is that starting in second position establishes a solid foundation for 'aplomb' (vertical alignment) from the very first movement. With the heels remaining on the floor during the grand plié, it encourages a strong connection to the floor and correct hip engagement before progressing to other positions.
Is this the reasoning shared in your training, or is there another insight into this unique aspect of the method?
Contributions from teachers and dancers are always welcome.
