The best exercise? 🤔

We get asked this all the time. And the honest answer might surprise you.

Yes, we're big fans of lifting weights. Strength training helps you:
💪 Build and keep muscle as you get older
🔥 Burn more calories, even at rest
🦴 Strengthen your bones and joints
😌 Feel more confident in your body

If you're not doing any strength work, it's worth adding in.

BUT… the best exercise is the one you'll actually keep doing.

Love running? Brilliant. 🏃‍♀️
Dancing round the kitchen? Counts. 💃
Swimming, cycling, walking the dog, five-a-side with your mates? All of it.

A "perfect" plan you quit after two weeks will never beat something you enjoy and stick with for years. Consistency is where the results come from.

So our advice: lift weights a couple of times a week, then fill the rest with whatever makes you happy to move.

Not sure where to start with strength training? That's exactly what we're here for. Drop us a message or tap the link in our bio 👇

From the outside, owning a gym looks like the dream. 🏋️‍♂️

Your own space. Your own brand. Your name above the door. First off, coaching on its own is hard. Anyone who's been in this industry knows it.

In one day you'll have a client who walks in buzzing, smashing PBs and loving life. The next one's struggling and needs picking up. Then someone's going through family problems. Someone else is in the middle of a divorce. And another doesn't believe in themselves yet, so you believe in them until they do.

You're not just a coach. You're a motivator, a listener, sometimes a counsellor, and you carry a bit of all of it home with you.

Now add owning the gym on top of that.
When I was coaching, I rented space for £550 a month, and I remember thinking that was expensive. 😅
Now imagine that same pressure, but with over £10k in expenses every single month. And no matter what kind of month it's been, it has to be paid.

Then there's the staff. You've got a team relying on you to keep the doors open so they've got a place to work. That's their livelihood on your shoulders too.
You pay them before yourself.
The coaching becomes maybe 30% of the job. The rest is:

Rent, business rates, VAT, and bills that land whether it's a good month or not Quiet weeks where you're wondering where the next client is coming from Fixing kit, cleaning, admin, emails at 11pm Marketing, content, CRM, funnels, learning skills nobody taught you on a PT course

Every decision being yours, and every mistake being yours too Honestly, 90% of the time you'll find me with a hoover or a mop in my hand. Part-time gym owner, full-time cleaner. 😂

And through all of it, you've still got to walk through that door every morning with a smile on your face. However much pressure you're under, however heavy things feel, you can't show it. Your clients come to you for energy and belief, so that's what they get. Every session. No matter what.

Nobody posts about that part. It's all shiny kit and before-and-afters.

I've not had a single day off since opening this place. Not one. But I do it for what we're building here, and for the community that's grown.

What keeps me going is simple: I love coaching,

She walked in on crutches. Watch her now. 🔥

What a bloody transformation

Ruptured Achilles. Sluggish. Barely able to move.

Today she's sprinting. Jumping. Pulling herself up like it's nothing.

This is what happens when you refuse to quit.

There were hard days. Setback days. Days it would've been easier to stay home. But Nat kept showing up anyway and she stopped focusing on what she couldn't do. She focused on what she could

That's it. That's the whole secret.

Not perfect. Not easy. Just consistent one session at a time, week after week, until it added up to this.

We at Thrive are incredibly proud of you, Nat. You always bring a smile, you make everyone around you feel welcome, and it is a genuine privilege to be able to coach you and call you a friend.

You didn't just heal. You transformed. And this is only the beginning. 💪🔥

Your comeback starts the day you decide it does.

3,500 calories = 1lb of fat. That’s the science. But it’s not the same deficit for everyone.

50kg client at a desk all day ≠ 70kg client hitting 10k steps. Same “rules,” completely different numbers.

And the deficit size you choose isn’t just maths — it’s psychology. Go too small and you won’t see progress fast enough to stay motivated. Go too aggressive and you burn out before results show.

Same calories every day, or higher on training days and lower on rest days? Neither is “better.” It’s whatever YOU can actually stick to.

The best plan on paper that you don’t follow loses to the worst plan you actually follow. Every time.

👇 Comment “DEFICIT” and I’ll tell you what actually fits your body and your life.

POV: it's Friday evening and every excuse in your head is telling you to skip. 😅

We've all been there. This is your reminder that the session you almost skip is usually the one you're proudest of afterwards.

The #1 question we get asked before someone joins: "What if I'm the least fit person there?"

You won't be and even if you feel like it, every session is coached and scaled to you. Nobody's ever training alone, and nobody's ever left behind.

The one nutrition rule we actually enforce inside the programme: protein first, every plate, every time.

Not a diet. Not a meal plan you'll quit in 2 weeks. Just one rule that makes fat loss dramatically easier to sustain.

Want the other rules? They're built into our 6-week transformation programme — link in bio.

Let's clear this one up. 👇

Small group PT isn't a cheaper, watered-down version of 1:1 — it's a different (and for most people, better) way to get coached.

Swipe to see exactly why.
