🚨 Heatwave Alert: Keeping Horses Safe in Hot Weather 🐴🌡️

With temperatures forecast to rise above 30°C, it's important to take extra precautions to help prevent heat stress in horses.

Here are a few tips to keep them safe:

✅ Ensure constant access to fresh, clean water
✅ Provide shade and adequate ventilation
✅ Adjust exercise routines and cool down properly
✅ Monitor vulnerable horses closely
✅ Encourage water intake with flavourings, soaked feeds +/- electrolytes

🚨 Know the signs of heat stress!!!

These can include excessive sweating, rapid breathing, lethargy, weakness, dehydration, and an elevated temperature.

If your horse seems unwell, struggles to recover after exercise, or isn't responding to cooling measures, seek vet advice promptly 🐴☀️🌡️

Well done to everyone who came along yesterday to our first gymkhana of the year! Brinsbury provided the perfect last minute venue while our field was being cut for hay. Perhaps being in an arena rather than a field helped, but we were particularly impressed with the skill demonstrated by the young riders yesterday, with everyone able to stay at the correct pace, and not a single rule bent or broken! Our next one is on Friday 3rd July starting at 5:30pm if you’d like to join the fun 🏇
