👮‍♂️ When Mum said no biscuits in the house for January and became the biscuit police.

No one talks about this ugly part of January… when Mum bans biscuits for everyone.
1 minute you’re living your best life dunking McVitie’s in tea like it’s a scene from Gavin & Stacey, the next minute the cupboards are emptier than a Tesco shelf on 25 December.

She says it’s “just 31 days” but removes Cadbury like it’s a controlled substance.
Sits there watching Friends on Netflix with 1 herbal tea while you’re grieving 1 packet of Hobnobs.
Suddenly you’re hiding digestives like you’re in Peep Show, eating in silence, listening for footsteps every 3 seconds.

Dry January? Fine.
But biscuit-free January feels personal.
0 biscuits. 100% judgement.

🩷 This year mattered more than it looked. This is the year in 2025 the pumpkin patch turned 10 and quietly went pink themed. This year felt like a big thank you moment 🙏

Colchester patch felt like it grew up a little.
Still a real Essex pumpkin picking field packed full of edible pumpkins and squashes (we’ve loved all your recipes and cooking stories!)
But this year it held you for longer.
This is the 1st year with our new barn and farmyard filled with pumpkins and squashes, all grown personally by us! This was a proud moment.
The tractor and trailer ride helped tired legs keep going.
More food choices meant happier kids and fewer worries.
And the pink pumpkins quietly marked that this was a special 10th year.

Basildon felt the same in the best way:
The traditional open field for 10 years. No barns, no yards, it’s a traditional farm field of pumpkins growing in the ground.
Just pumpkins, squashes and fresh air and space to wander for families to enjoy the open countryside. The kind of place where nothing needs changing because it already feels right.

You only ever get around 16 days to visit.
That is why it never feels like a commercialised pumpkin festival, and we stick to being a traditional and authentic pick your own pumpkin patch with our roots. That will never change for us. We want to remain authentic and traditional selling our farm produce direct to you. We are all about pumpkin picking and making sure you take our homegrown produce home with you straight from the farm!

Celeb highlights of 2025:
Stacey Solomon sharing an Instagram moment.
Frankie Essex popping by.
Amelia Murs visiting like any other mum.

As year 11 begins, things are already gently taking shape.
More unique and fantastic ideas that you’ll only ever get with us. Lots of things for you to get excited about in October 2026! (As we are super excited with what’s in store!!)

Thank you for bringing your kids, your spouse, your parents, your mates, your dogs, your wellies and your time. Thank you for choosing a real pumpkin and squash field on our farm for your pumpkin patch. The first 10 years only happened because you kept coming back, and that means more than you will ever know. đź©·

Cleaning the new John Deere my wife says she’s buying me for Christmas, which is apparently this week. Running a pumpkin farm in Essex usually means you’re covered in real mud from real tractors, but today I’ve been trusted with the festive upgrade. I’ve been out here in the Essex cold giving the farmyard at Foxes Farm the deepest scrub it has ever seen, because according to her the John Deere is parked right here and is absolutely filthy.

Not a single seedling ever got this level of attention and yet here I am polishing a tractor that lives entirely in her imagination, like I’m on Coronation Street with the Christmas episodes on in the background. She keeps calling out from the kitchen asking if I’ve cleaned the tyres yet and reminding me not to scratch the paintwork, which is impressive considering neither of those things exist.

If you drive past and see me rinsing the empty space next to the barn while the nation watches festive telly and Clarkson pretends he understands farming, just know that marriage prepares you for many things and apparently one of them is pretending your Christmas present is real and that you’re on Clarkson’s Farm.

You know when you watch a Christmas special and everyone is acting like they have it all figured out, then the plot thickens and you sit there like you should have seen it coming. That was every single person in Essex trying to guess the weight of this tree.

It felt like the Christmas version of The Chase when Bradley asks the one question nobody gets right. Even the confident ones, the ones who walk round the tree yard like they are Stacey Solomon on a festive craft mission, took 1 look at this tree and guessed completely wrong! They were much better at guessing the weight of the pumpkin at Foxes Farm in October!

Some guessed light enough for a child in a Christmas rom com to carry home in a snowstorm, just like any Hallmark Christmas movie!

Some guessed heavy enough to need 3 builders from TOWIE and a JCB forklift from The Heist.

Not one person even landed close.

And the best part was watching each face drop like they were in the final 5 minutes of an EastEnders Christmas cliffhanger when I have them the actual answer.

So after all that suspense…. here is the real answer.

A whopping 22kg!.

Not even close to what anyone said. Would you have guess it to be that heavy?

You are standing in the farm yard trying to pretend you have not spent the past 7 days acting like the unofficial tractor queen of Essex. The yellow wheels look suspiciously polished, you are clutching that yellow highlighter like it just accidentally found its way into your hand, and you cannot stop staring at the tiny scratch that absolutely did not exist back when the pumpkin patch was in full swing in October.

Now it is November and the farm feels different. The rush has faded, the fields are quieter, and you are knee deep in the kind of prep that sets the tone for next year’s pumpkin picking without even realising how much you have taken over. At first you drove the tractor because it was helpful. Then because it was fun. Then because it made you feel like you finally understood the rhythm of the place.

You replay every lap across the empty pumpkin rows. Every slow roll past the barn trying to look like you knew exactly what you were doing. Every moment of peace that came from being out there with nothing but the engine, the fresh air and the feeling that you were part of something bigger than the chaos of October.

And now you are waiting for him to spot the mark and ask why you are holding a yellow highlighter like it is a cover up plan. You tell yourself he might not notice. You tell yourself every tractor earns a few stories. You tell yourself this is what happens when an Essex mum finally gets hold of something powerful enough to keep up with her pace.

But deep down you know the truth. You will hand the tractor back, but you are not giving up the confidence you found in those November fields getting the farm ready for next year’s pumpkin patch.

You will not expect how many pumpkins go through this. You stand there watching the seeds pour out and you realise you are looking at the start of two things you probably have in your cupboard already. Pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin protein powder start in moments exactly like this. You hear the crunch, you see the colours, and suddenly the whole idea feels closer to your everyday life than you thought.

You have seen Molly Mae talk about autumn routines and how certain ingredients just make life feel calmer. You watch Clarkson’s Farm and you see Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb Cooper arguing their way through a harvest and you feel that strange mix of chaos and pride that farming gives you. And then you stand in a pumpkin field and notice that the same seeds in your hands are the ones turned into the oil you drizzle on salads and the protein you add to your morning shake.

You probably never imagine the journey when you buy it. You just open the bottle or scoop the powder and carry on with your day. But out here you feel the weight of it. You see how each seed survives the mess, the machinery, the weather and the sheer unpredictability of autumn. You watch them spill into that bucket and you realise that nothing about this is factory perfect. It is muddy, loud, oddly soothing and strangely mesmerising.

You feel the warmth rising off the freshly separated seeds. You smell the raw earthy scent before it becomes the smooth nutty flavour in your kitchen. You picture your dog sniffing around your shopping bags. You imagine your kids asking why you put green oil on everything. You think about Kaleb shouting at Jeremy for driving too fast and it suddenly makes sense why every seed feels like a tiny victory.

You stand in the middle of a pumpkin patch and feel part of the story without even trying. You see how something simple becomes something useful. Something everyday. Something you probably did not expect when you pressed play on a reel about pumpkins.

And now you know that the next time you taste that oil or shake that protein into your bottle you have already met the seeds that made it.
