ATHX GAMES GYM TOUR - DERBY EDITION.
Join us for a 3hr introduction to ATHX as Exertion Fitness ars one of two gyms in Derby to be affiliated to ATHX.
Find out about how the competition works, how to train for the event and
meet some of the ATHX staff. We will have ATHX and ATHX partner goodies to
give away on the day.
This will be a fun, informative opportunity to ask questions and meet other
people looking to train for an ATHX event or simply for anyone looking to
dial in their training for a sport, a parkrun or wanting to get fitter &
stronger for life.
Learn the movement standards and techniques for the key lifts in Strength,
test your engine and your metabolic conditioning for the Endurance and
MetconX zones. This 3hr session will tell you everything you need to know
about training for ATHX.

🔥 1 REP MAX WEEK IS COMING TO AN END 🔥
A 1 rep max, is the maximum weight you can lift for one solid rep, without sacrificing form or depth. Knowing your 1 rep max (1RM) can be a game-changer to your health and fitness goals... How?
✅️💪🏼 MEASURES TRUE STRENGTH
Knowing your 1RM not only shows you your full capacity in strength, but allows you better pick the right weight to use for higher volume of weights.
1rep =100% of your strength.
Newer lifters can expect to use about 50% of a 1RM for sets of 12reps; whereas more experienced lifters can expect about 60% for sets of 12.
✅️📈 TRACKS PROGRESS
Regular testing ( we aim for 1-2x a year) helps you see how much you've improved over time.
✅️🎯 HELPS SET REALISTIC TARGETS
Some of us love a challenge of getting strong enough to lift X amount of weight.
Knowing your 1rm allows you to set realistic expectations on how long it may take to get there, especially if you do test yourself regularly so you can look at how your lift progresses each time!
✅️📣 INCREASED MOTIVATION
Hitting a new 1RM feels incredible and keeps you motivated to push further.
✅️🏋♂️ ENHANCES TECHNIQUE
Lifting heavy requires proper form and technique, so testing your 1rm improves overall movement quality, especially over time...
If you "fail" an attempt, it only shows your where you need to improve: whether that be a form issue; depth issue; general strength; or if you have any muscular weaknesses/imbalances - so you know what muscles you need to pay more focus to in your normal training.

🧐PERFECTION OR PROGRESSION?🧐
MANY factors can determine how well, or how far you can push yourself during a training session; and a lot of the time, this isn’t something that can be helped.
📌 Did we get enough good quality sleep last night?😴
📌 Have we eaten enough/the right things to fuel our energy for session?🥙
📌 Is our brain in the right mindset? Are we stressed? Are we fully motivated to be here?😅
📌 Where are you in your cycle? / How are your hormone levels in general?⚖️
Does this mean, that if we have a session (or multiple) that don’t go as planned, where maybe we couldn’t progress our weights, or we couldn’t even match our regular weights used, that you won’t gain any benefits?🧐
🙅🏼♀️ ABSOLUTELY NOT! 🙅♂️
If you are still showing up and putting in all the effort you HAVE into your training, whether those weights progress or not from week to week, you will reap the benefits, because are still giving everything you have.💪🏼
It's only if you don’t even try to test yourself just because it feels harder that you won’t get the same benefits.
Training isn’t about perfection, its about progression.📊📈
You wont have a perfect training session every single time – NO ONE CAN; but you can decide that you will continue to test yourself regardless of feeling tired, or weaker – once we’ve had better sleep, or remembered to eat, or our hormones are more balanced out, then we will see our strength and abilities return back to normal, and we can continue to test and push for the weights used to increase again.🏆
