Back from Donington Park which didn't actually go fully to plan.
Qualifying started well and was making good pace getting to know the track but it was quite busy with a good grid of cars. Had a few near misses with slower cars but mananged to set my fastest time on a clear last lap to finish 22 out of 32 starters π.
Race 1 ... well going up to assembly it started raining with a lot of cars on slicks (including me) but luckily there was a delay and it didnt amount to much so track stayed dry.
We actually started in 21st and made a great start until the 1st bend sort out which lost us a bit of pace but still in strong place. Made a a few places down Craner curves but the car was vibrating and making some strange noises. We kept pushing on despite this and was getting faster, passing cars in front but it was not feeling happy. On last last couple of laps we caught Gary Johnson who was running in 12th, made a few attempts to pass but he drove superbly and held me off, so ended up 13th but over 3 secs quicker than Qualifying!! ππ
Getting back into the pits we assessed the car to find the clutch plate has partial broken and smashed out the bell housing. No idea how this has happened or how it kept going, but hopefully this is the only reason it wouldnt rev cleanly (very out of balance i assume).
It was still drivable and fast enough but didnt want to risk any further damage, so didnt start race 2 π.
Now for the second race meeting in a row we have pushed a damaged to the end of a race, and got quicker ..... so cant wait to actually get a full meeting in a working car .... probably will win overall π€£π€£π€£.
Big gap now till Snetterton in August, so time to get it in workshop for repairs again and look at some upgrades maybe.
