Saturday we hosted Shotton in the Minors Cup.

We started the game well and should of been about 3 or 4 up in the first 20 mins but couldnt hit the target.

Around 33 mins Jack collects the the ball on the half way line beats a player and then thunderbolts a shot from around 27 yards out leaving the keeper no chance, (made lewis dunk goal for Brighton yesterday look average 🤣)

Ht 1-0

2nd half and the first 10 mins was end to end with more space for both teams both creating chances, then around 56 mins, the ref stops play and run to aaron showing a strait red for dissent.

Tides turned since the red and we had to dig deep and keep our shape.. passy saving a couple chances and fantastic defending from the lads , but shotton got there goal with a deflected strike from the edge of the box.

20 mins left and as shotton pushed for a winner we defended well and we countered well with us creating a few chances with failing to score..

Ft 1-1

Pens arrived and we went 1st with charlie going 1st which there keeper pulled a good save off.

We then missed our 4th pen when Tony missed his 2nd pen within a week with a tame effort again that the keeper saved

Needed to rely on passy now , he saved the shotton 4th pen but it wasnt enough as they despatched the decisove pen..

Pens
❎️ Chaz
✅️ Harrison
✅️Jack
❎️Tony
✅️ Carl

All the best to shotton, another day we could and maybe should have won ,but we have loads of positives to take from today.

Everyone put a fantastic shift in and worked hard ..motm was between jack and jamie as both outstanding all game, jamie like a prime vidic.

Saturdays game ended all square as we hosted Waldridge Park.

First 10-15 mins of the game waldridge come at us strong but couldnt find the break through. We then settled and got hold of the game forcing their keeper into a couple of good saves.

Ht 0-0

Waldridge main threat was off long throws and corners , and they then took the lead when we switched off with a long throw to be headed home unmarked. (Bad goal to concede for us)

We responded well and 10 mins later we got awarded a pen, which tony ran up the pitch determined to get the ball and he did, but unfortunatly he seemed to pass it to the keeper who saved but upstepped captain jack to smash home the rebound.

Both teams didnt want to settle and the best chance late on fell to us after great build up which looked like matty had won us the game but somehow there keeper pulled off an incredible point blank save.

Full time result 1-1

We hosted a young Durham United and got another 3 points to keep the 100% league form going..

We made a few changes due to players been away and other reasons which inc a change in goal..

Started the game brightly and matty firing in from close range after 10 mins.. 2nd goal followed when matty scored again.. 3rd goal i missed but rumour has it jake scored. HT 3-0

2nd half United come at us and created a few chances themeselves but couldnt hit the target, they did get 1 back after a mix up at the back and slotting home.. they kept pushing until we got a free kick 22 yards out, up stepped captain jack with a wand of a free kick like watching matt le tissier back in the day, was past the keeper before he even tried to save it..

Full time 4-1
