Ollie Refuerzo may be the most recent addition to the Boccia Durham family, but you’d think he’d been part of it forever! Oliver is kind and thoughtful and always shows support for his teammates, sometimes even watching the matches from home on a live stream. It’s great to watch the consistent improvements Oliver is making as a BC3 player and the commitment he shows travelling as far as he does to attend our sessions. We are incredibly lucky to have him as part of the Purple Army 💜

And, of course, we can’t forget one of the added bonuses of having Oliver on the team… his dad’s home-baked goodies! 👀🧁😂

💜 ANOTHER PROUD ANNOUNCEMENT FOR BOCCIA DURHAM! 💜

What an incredible sight at the Scottish Disability Sport Scottish Open — seeing three Boccia Durham players wearing their National kit, competing on three separate courts right next to each other! 🇬🇧🏹

Moments like this really make us stop and appreciate just how far our players have come. To see three of our own representing Boccia England side by side, was something incredibly special.

The Scottish Open was a fantastic competition, and our players did themselves, England and Boccia Durham incredibly proud.

A huge well done to everyone who competed, supported and represented our club! Your hard work, determination and commitment continues to inspire us all.

🏆 A special congratulations to Christopher Jackson, who finished an incredible 4th place! 👏🏻🔥

We couldn’t be prouder of our players and everything they continue to achieve.

Safe travels and best of luck to our athletes representing Boccia England this weekend! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💜

It’s been a little while since we did one of these. Our lovely Joseph Thebe who always brightens our sessions with his smile and support for others. He has grown in confidence massively since he joined Boccia Durham and is a fab member of our club. Can’t wait to see where next season takes you Joseph! ☀️💜

💜 Boccia England NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS 2026 💜

We leave Stoke Mandeville without the results we were hoping for but the performances of our athletes have given Boccia Durham so much to be proud of. We left the competition with some things just as important as results - smiles, laughter, memories, and the privilege of sharing them with the most incredible teammates.

The games weren’t easy and the ends were incredibly tight, with many of them dependent upon on the final ball. The BC3 athletes representing the Purple Army competed with everything they had, supported each other, laughed together, celebrated the good moments and picked each other up when things didn’t go their way.

Coach Gary put it perfectly: “You are all inspirational. You have now shown what is possible from each of you. The Purple Army are only just starting”.

And in the words of Coach Tony, Thomas and Marie: “The progress this year from all of the Purple Army has been nothing short of astounding. We’re proud to be associated with you all”.

Thank you for the hard work of our ramp assistants, families and carers for supporting our athletes throughout the weekend. Your encouragement and dedication to the club, travelling far and wide for competitions and everything in between contributes massively to the achievements of our athletes.

You heard it here first…the Purple Army are only just starting 🏐🔥

This weekend, four of Boccia Durham’s athletes are travelling to Stoke Mandeville for the National Finals.

Behind every end played is a story of countless training sessions, resilience, determination and unwavering belief. You’ve already achieved something extraordinary by earning your place among the very best in the country.

A huge thank you to Thomas Jackson and Marie and Tony, who are travelling all the way to Stoke Mandeville to cheer on the team. Your dedication and support embody everything Boccia Durham is about, and it means more than words can say.

To our athletes: wear the purple with pride. Play with courage. Enjoy every moment.

Because medals are wonderful… but they will never define what you’ve already accomplished. You have inspired us, united us, and given our club every reason to be proud.

The Purple Army is behind you all the way. No matter the results, you’ll always come home as our champions.

GOOD LUCK, TEAM DURHAM! 💜🏆
