What you donβt see in the balancing posture is the wobble!! Wobbling is part of balance itβs your nervous system doing its job to figure out where you are in space. Balancing postures are not meant to look perfect (despite common perception of most yoga students)
Next Saturday 30th May 9-11am for a fun look at balancing in ways that we can bring into everyday life
Join us for a fun, wobble and balance workshop.

A second tribute to David Attenborough, who turned 100 yesterday.
In 1963, David Attenborough worked with violinist Yehudi Menuhin on the BBC documentary Yehudi Menuhin and his Guru. The film featured Menuhinβs teacher, B.K.S. Iyengar, and offered a rare glimpse of yoga on British television at that time.
The image above is a still from the BBC programme, later featured on the cover of 2023 Dipika magazine for Simon Crispβs article, Rediscovering B.K.S. Iyengar on the BBC after Sixty Years.

The Intelligent Art of Prop-Assisted Practice
Props are not shortcuts. They are instruments of awareness.
In yoga, the goal is never to βcompleteβ a pose at the cost of its integrity. Forcing the body creates fatigue, dullness, and even fear in the system.
A brick under the hand is not there to make the pose easier. It is there to teach the chest to expand.
A rope is not support. It is a teacher for opening what has become closed.
A blanket is not comfort. It is structure for correct action.
Props allow you to:
β’ Maintain alignment without strain
β’ Study the pose without exhaustion
β’ Awaken dull, unresponsive areas
β’ Sustain practice over decades
This is the method pioneered by B.K.S. Iyengar β where props are used to cultivate intelligence, not dependency.
The question is not: βCan you do the pose?β
The question is: Can you understand the pose?
π¬ How has prop-assisted practice changed your understanding of movement?
π¬ Comment βPropsβ if a prop has ever helped you experience a pose differently!
