Wainwrights weekender report from Pete & Mark
Carnethy Wainwright Weekender - A Day of Two Halves
Mark & Pete had a ‘mopping up’ job when it came to our hills, from Causey Pike to Ard Rigg, via Scar Crags and Knott Rigg, all in the North Western sector. Map reading skills. It had been recommended these were brushed up on before setting out. To make sure we got any map reading errors out o

Glamaig race report from Jack B
Glamaig 2026
Glamaig – a race with a reputation that precedes it. By the time I arrived at Sligachan campsite on the Friday, I had lost track of the number of people who had referred to it as “special” or described its descent (normally accompanied by a wince). The hill itself towers above the campsite, of...

Taproom Special write up! - Jeff Roberts
Taproom Special ‘26
Last Saturday I was back in Edinburgh to lead my Taproom Special run. The forecast suggested we were going to get the classic July weather this run seems to attract but actually it turned out quite nice with only a few refreshing spots of rain and even a glimpse of sunshine. This did mean that altho

Scottish Islands Peaks Race
What doesn’t break us makes us stronger - The last decade has been full of change for me. Pushing boundaries both in work and life. Allermuir Hill Race 2026
It was a record-breaking night at the 2026 edition of the Allermuir Hill Race. Coinciding with a heatwave, conditions were nonetheless ripe for very fast racing. Finlay Todd and Emily McNicol, both Carnethy, delivered, smashing the previous bests by some distance. Todd led home a record field of 75

Handicap #3: Capelaw Contour Conundrum
Distance: 8.6km | Ascent: 460m | Race: 52 | Total: 71 The third handicap in the series posed a conundrum: should runners go over the hills or contour around them? We have no statistics on the best or most popular option, but according to one spectator, going over Capelaw and Harbour Hill on the way

Swiss Scenic Trail:
Swiss Scenic Trail

Durisdeer Hill Race
On 30th May, a healthy crop of Carnethies arrived at the quaint village of Durisdeer, via a road deemed too narrow by this infrequent motorist. Adrenaline already pumping after two narrow entrances were navigated, Ben Stevens and I had a cool 105 minutes to wait until the start of the race. Infreque
