Proud coaches moment for former Destination Judo athletes Chris Kumesu-Egri and Gabriel Rincones Jr 👏

This week, Chris heads to Sweden for his second HYROX World Championship. After finishing an incredible 2nd place in his age group last year, he’s stepping things up in a big way—qualifying for Pro Men Solo, Pro Men Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, competing in three races across three days. An amazing achievement and a true test of elite fitness 💪

Meanwhile, last night Gabriel had a moment to remember—his first MLB hit and his first home run for the Phillies in their 7–0 win over the Marlins ⚾🔥

“I daydreamed about that,” Rincones said. “And I tried to think about what it would feel like, what I would see and smell — and it was very similar.”

What makes this even more special is that Chris and Gabriel were once teammates, training together at Destination Judo Glenrothes.

From the dojo to the world stage—different paths, same dedication.

Keep up the incredible work, lads — we’re all proud of you! 👏

Congratulations to both Frances McEwan and Lewis Yates on achieving their black belts at the National Grading yesterday.

Frances has faced a number of setbacks this year through injury, but showed tremendous resilience and determination to overcome every challenge and keep moving forward. A member of Destination Judo since the age of 5, her hard work and perseverance paid off as she successfully achieved her black belt via line-up.

Frances becomes the second black belt in her family — a fantastic achievement and one she should be incredibly proud of.

Lewis also earned his black belt through the line-up system. While he now predominantly trains within a performance programme elsewhere as he continues the next stage of his judo journey, he still gives back to the club by regularly attending on Saturdays to help coach and support our younger members, passing on his knowledge and experience.

His commitment to both his own development and the development of others is a credit to him.

Achieving a black belt is a significant milestone that reflects years of dedication, hard work, and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of both Frances and Lewis and look forward to seeing what they achieve next. Congratulations to you both! 🥋👏

Apologies - but we’re experiencing technical issues with GoCardless - the app we use to set up and manage subscriptions for class fees. Their tech support team have been in touch and have acknowledged that it’s not currently able to send emails to anyone with a hotmail, outlook or live email - so for any new applicants with these email addresses - apologies for any delay.
