Autumn is upon us and we are looking back at 2 absolutely stunning Farnes weekends with Billy Shiel Farne Islands Boats , so many close seal encounters and no cancellations due to bad weather!!! 🦭
We even had some sunshine and ice cream 🥳

Thank you so much to the DBS staff: Tom, Aimee, Jorge and Annabel.
But also everyone else who came and made it such great weekends!!!👌🏻
We can't wait to go back next year!!!

Special shout out to Ailie who took the first video and picture. She spent so much quality time with this seal that she almost forgot to return to the surface after an hour. 😅❤️

Also shout out to Angela who took pictures 3-5, amazing as always👏🏻, and to Tom the octopus spotter!!!

(Aimee had a fantastic time as well, despite what it looks like in the last picture.... )

September Newsletter out now!!!

We have had a beautiful summer with lots of great trips and the season is now slowing down a little bit, although we still have our abroad trip to the Maldives coming up very soon and a weekend in Capernwray in November and more training obviously!

Beach Clean 24th October

Exciting announcement!!! We have organised a beach clean at our training dive site, A-Frames in Loch Long. We felt like the time has come to give back to the local environment and leave it as clean as tidy as we possibly can.
We have teamed up with the Argyll and Bute Council who will provide litter pickers and bin bags and also dispose of the rubbish after we’re done.
The beach clean should ideally be done around 2h after high tide, which would be approximately 2pm on that day. For those who are keen, we will go for a fun dive before.

The beach clean will be conform with MCS beach clean guidelines, we will do a little briefing before we get started.
If you have any gardening gloves, please bring them along. We do have a small supply available as well though.
Make sure you bring a thermos with a hot beverage, snacks and lots of layers!!! Who knows, maybe the sun will come out and we can even sit down for a little picnic 😊

Congratulations to Ailie, Shy, Alex, Eddie, Jamie and Cez for completing their EFR(/refresher) course with Annabel last week! 💥
We covered lots of different aspects like CPR, O2 administration, AED use, wound care, diving incidents and many more.
Lots of stories and laughs as well despite the difficult topics. 👏🏻

If you're thinking of doing your rescue diver or DM or if your efr has run out or maybe you're just interested in learning first aid, this course is an excellent option for you!

Always good to have some fun divers come along to Loch Long as well, Jay and Paul joined us 2 weeks ago.

We also had a big team of DBS volunteers out the last 2 weeks: Ellis, Clare and Jeremy were instructing while Tom L, James, Bungie and Gordon were DMing.

Thank you everyone who came and made these 2 weekends so much fun!!! 🤿

We’re heading out 20–28 November 2027 aboard Emperor Asmaa for 9 days / 8 nights of some seriously spectacular diving!

Think dramatic walls, huge drop-offs, big blue, sharks, pelagics, colourful reefs… and the legendary Salem Express wreck. 🦈🌊🛳️

Massive congratulations to our DBS members Ailie and Alex who got engaged and will be getting married next year 🥳❤️✨️

We couldn't be more happy for those 2 🥰

Alex proposed to Ailie on a beach in the Bahamas earlier this year (after originally planning to propose on a shark dive but then remembered just in time they were told to keep their arms close to their bodies...).

After Ailie said yes, Alex then considered planning a Loch Long underwater ceremony (on the platform🤔?), a thought that was very quickly shut down by Ailie 😂

They are now getting married on land and couldn't be more excited for this next chapter in their lives.

Another stunning trip on the MV Honeydew has come and gone… And what a trip it was!!! ☀️
11 DBS divers spent a whole week going from Ullapool to Oban. Sarah, Rohan and Cara took really great care of us, provided us with excellent meals, air/nitrox fills, expert knowledge on species identification and drysuit repair and just the best dives ever!!!

There is a full trips report to follow on the September newsletter but here is a summary of the highlights🥳:
-sunshine and calm water the whole week
-viz of 20m + in some places up north
-John Dory
-record numbers of octopus and cat sharks, as well as blennies, jellies and nudis
-spurdogs on the safety stop
-shooting stars during anchor watch
-sunset dinner on deck
-dolphins and seals every single day
-napping on the sun deck
-otters
-so so many happy divers, laughs and great vibes!!!🥰

We can’t wait for our next trip with you, thanks Sarah and Rohan! It was fantastic 🩵

Another beautiful weekend of diving in St Abbs.✨️✨️✨️

Saturday the DBS divers explored Ebb Carr's and then did a reef dive, wolf fish included. Adrienne braved 2 dives in a 5.5 mm wetsuit!!! 💪🏻
Day 2 started out a bit later and due to severe salt water withdrawal Tom L just couldn't wait and jumped in before we even left the harbour. (He also rescued one of Aimee's lost diving objects in the process).🙌🏻
We enjoyed 2 scenic dives with another wolf fish sighting (shout out to Angela for the great pics!!!👏🏻)  nudis, blennis and lots of blue jellies!🪼

Thanks to our DBS staff Wiebke, Tom L and Tom J for making sure everyone had their equipment, was safe and had a great weekend!!! 🤿🤩
