Another beautiful weekend of diving in St Abbs.✨️✨️✨️

Saturday the DBS divers explored Ebb Carr's and then did a reef dive, wolf fish included. Adrienne braved 2 dives in a 5.5 mm wetsuit!!! 💪🏻
Day 2 started out a bit later and due to severe salt water withdrawal Tom L just couldn't wait and jumped in before we even left the harbour. (He also rescued one of Aimee's lost diving objects in the process).🙌🏻
We enjoyed 2 scenic dives with another wolf fish sighting (shout out to Angela for the great pics!!!👏🏻)  nudis, blennis and lots of blue jellies!🪼

Thanks to our DBS staff Wiebke, Tom L and Tom J for making sure everyone had their equipment, was safe and had a great weekend!!! 🤿🤩

Until next time, St Abbs!!! ☀️

Women's Dive Day 2026 has come and gone and what a day it was!!! ☀️

A warm sunny summer day, 8 divers and 2 dive sites.
We dived Inveraray Pier first and despite the very poor viz we all had a great time. Shayna did a 45 min dive in a wetsuit (again!), very impressive! Wiebke and Ailie swam through field of fireworks anemones while Maria, Shayna, Alex, Becky and Annabel met the biggest great grandma lobster out on her morning walk! Thank you Leila (our Californian visitor) for providing shore support!!!👏🏻
We then had a beautiful beach picnic, beers (0% obviously), sunburns and cake included, and then headed to Drishaig Reef for our second dive. The viz in the shallow water was amazing, sunshine and plenty of moon jellies. A little deeper we saw several cat sharks and a little teenager ray!!!
Whilst debriefing and having a second picnic on the beach, we were lucky enough to have an otter swim past the beach!!! 🦦
All in all an amazing day with great chat, superb diving and plenty of sunshine!!!

We can't wait to do it all over again next year!!!!🤿👩‍🦳👱🏻‍♀️👩🏽‍🦱💪🏻

Congratulations to Ailie who won the photo competition with her picture of the very Scottish lobster in a traffic cone!!! 🥳👏🏻🥇 She won a ScubaPro long sleeve rash guard, provided by our friend Jeremy from Edinburgh Diving Centre who also provided the air fills for the day. Thanks Jeremy 👏🏻

A full report will follow in this month's newsletter!

Congratulations to Aimee's and Jorge's 150th dive together!!! 🥳👏🏻🏅

They have really come a long way and are DBS's favourite dive buddy team! But how did they meet and when did they start diving together?

Without having ever met before, Aimee first gave Jorge a lift to a dive site, accompanied by her friend and a dog (for security reasons) in March 2023, and she has since then become Jorge's favourite chauffeuse and dive buddy. Both were very keen to improve their diving skills and progress in diving and they booked onto almost every single DBS trip since.
Aimee is now a PADI dive master and Jorge is currently a dive master trainee. Both are very much into tech diving nowadays, Jorge with his rebreather and Aimee with a twinset and 1 or 2 stages.
All in all, the practice has definitely paid off!!!

Aimee and Jorge have dived all around Scotland together, from St Abbs to Loch Long, Lochaline, the Clyde, Shetland and Scapa Flow and this year they will be going on their first liveaboard abroad together in the Maldives. 🏝

Both are members of the current DBS committee, in charge of membership (Aimee) and trips (Jorge).
If you book onto a DBS training day or a trip, you'll very likely see one or the other (or even more likely, both of them together).

Despite many underwater miscommunications they still love to dive together and have become a great buddy team. And even more importantly, Aimee no longer needs a friend and a guard dog to come along as Jorge turned out to not be the suspicious character she was expecting to pick up on the first day they met.

Aimee and Jorge, to the next 150!!❤️

Enriched Air (NITROX) COURSE - 13TH JULY (EVENING)

Learn the benefits of diving with enriched air (Nitrox), extending your bottom time, and reducing nitrogen absorption.

This classroom-only course will be conducted on the evening of the 13th of July. You will learn to safely label cylinders, discuss the theory, and solidify your knowledge of the safety protocols. This course is highly recommended if you have a dive heavy trip (like a liveaboard) any time soon!
We all love a bit more bottom time.
