At last Thursday’s Awards Evening, we were delighted to present a cheque to Stephen from Name'5 Doddie Foundation one of the two charities chosen to benefit from this year’s Sponsored Swim and Duathlon.

Unfortunately, Friends of Oaklands Edinburgh were unable to attend the evening, but we will ensure they receive their cheque.

Thanks to the determination, commitment and generosity of our swimmers, families, supporters and volunteers, an amazing £1,467 was raised and shared between these two fantastic causes.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, volunteered or supported the event. Your efforts have helped raise valuable funds for two charities that are very close to our hearts.

We are incredibly proud of every swimmer who took part.

🐬👏 Well done, Team Dolphins! 💙🏊‍♀️

🏆🐬 Dunbar Dolphins Awards Evening 2026 🐬🏆

What a fantastic evening celebrating the achievements of our incredible swimmers.

We were delighted to welcome Olympic medallist Dan Wallace, who shared the inspiring story of his swimming journey. From receiving his very first trophy at Dunbar Dolphins to standing on the Olympic podium and winning an Olympic silver medal, Dan reminded us that every achievement starts with a single step – or in this case, a single length of the pool. His journey, dedication and success inspired everyone in the room.

Following Dan’s talk, we celebrated the achievements of our own swimmers. While trophies and medals are wonderful, we know that success comes in many forms. Over the past year, our swimmers have achieved so much:

🏊‍♀️ Achieving personal best times
🏊 Supporting friends and teammates
🏊 Overcoming fears and challenges
🏊 Having the courage to compete
🏊 Turning up week after week to training and always giving their best

Every swimmer’s journey is different, and every achievement deserves recognition. We are incredibly proud of all our swimmers for their hard work, determination, resilience and team spirit.

A huge thank you to our coaches, volunteers, committee members and families who make Dunbar Dolphins such a special club.

Congratulations to all our award winners. 💙🐬

🏅 If you were unable to join us for the awards evening, your trophies, medals and pin badges can be collected from Foxlake on Monday evening.

Children and young adults can enjoy free swimming at pools across East Lothian as part of the Scottish Government’s Summer of Sport 2026 scheme.
The free sessions will be available for all swimmers aged 26 and under from Monday, 29 June until Friday, 7 August.
Free family swimming sessions will also allow up to two parents or carers to accompany children and young people in the water.
We're providing this free access along with Enjoy Leisure from 11am each day during normal public swimming times at five pools in the county - Aubigny Sports Centre in Haddington, Mercat Gait Centre in Prestonpans, Dunbar Leisure Pool, Musselburgh Sports Centre and North Berwick Sports Centre.
We're using a £243,000 award from the £20 million Summer of Sport national initiative - which is funded by the Scottish Government and facilitated by sportscotland - to cover the costs.
The free swims are aimed at reducing barriers to participation in sport so more young people have the chance to stay healthy and active.

🏊‍♂️🏅 What an incredible Championships! 🏅🏊‍♀️

A huge thank you to all of our swimmers, coaches, lifeguards, poolside team, committee, volunteers and parents for making this year’s championships such a fantastic event.

We witnessed countless personal bests, determined performances, and outstanding displays of sportsmanship throughout the competition. Every swimmer should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

Championships aren’t about winners and losers – they’re about challenging yourself, setting goals, showing resilience and giving your best effort. We saw that in abundance over the last few weeks. Whether you smashed a PB, raced a new event, or battled through setbacks (including the occasional goggle failure!), you showed determination, perseverance and a fantastic attitude.

The support from our coaches, officials, lifeguards, poolside helpers and parents helped create a positive and encouraging environment where every swimmer could thrive. Thank you for giving up your time and energy to make it all possible.

We can’t wait to celebrate everyone’s achievements next Thursday at our Pizza & Awards Night. It will be a wonderful opportunity to recognise all the hard work, dedication and success.

Well done everyone – we’re incredibly proud of you all! 👏🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️🍕🏆

🏊‍♂️ Important Message to Parents – Finals Night Volunteers & Relay Swimmers 🏊‍♀️

Thank you to everyone who attended Heats Night 4 on Monday evening and to the parents who volunteered their time to help on poolside. Unfortunately, despite our earlier requests, we continue to struggle to secure enough parent volunteers to run these events effectively.

Championships can only take place if we have sufficient timekeepers and helpers available. Without volunteer support, we may need to review whether future events can go ahead. These evenings provide valuable racing experience for our swimmers, and we would hate to lose them due to a lack of assistance.

We were also disappointed that several swimmers in relay teams left early without informing a coach. This left relay teams short of swimmers and put significant pressure on those trying to organise the event. Relay races are team events, and when swimmers leave unexpectedly, it impacts not only their teammates but also the smooth running of the competition.

If your child is entered in a relay team, they must remain at the pool until their relay race has been completed unless alternative arrangements have been agreed with a coach beforehand.

We appreciate that family commitments sometimes mean plans change. However, we ask that you communicate with a coach we if your child needs to leave early so that we can make alternative arrangements where possible.

Please consider volunteering at future events, even if you can only help for part of the evening. Your support is essential and greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the club.

* Please note that for qualifying races that only had one heat, we are not rerunning as a final. Winners will be allocated based on the placings in the heats.

🏊‍♂️ Heats Night 4 – Important Information 🏊‍♀️

Our Heats Nights are a fantastic opportunity for swimmers to race, improve their times, and have fun with their teammates. However, we can only run this event if we have enough parent volunteers available to help with timekeeping.

⏱️ Please consider volunteering and come along to support both your child and the club. Even helping for part of the evening makes a huge difference and ensures we can continue to provide these opportunities for our swimmers.

🏊 Relay Teams
We will be running the relay races during the evening. If your child has signed up for a relay team, it is important that they remain at the pool until their relay race has taken place.

When swimmers leave early or do not attend, it can be extremely difficult for teams to find replacement swimmers at short notice, which can impact the experience for the whole team.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to another great evening of racing.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
