Some moments in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu mean so much more than the colour of a belt. They represent the tough rounds, the setbacks, the victories, and the decision to keep showing up even when it wasn’t easy.

This week, we’re incredibly proud to celebrate Dylan and Jordan on their well-earned promotions at Exeter Martial Arts with the Sidney Silva BJJ Association. 🥋💜💙

After five years of dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment, Dylan has earned his purple belt. Every training session, every challenge overcome, and every lesson learned has led to this moment. Purple belt is a testament to the work you’ve put in and the martial artist you’ve become.

Jordan has earned his blue belt after a fantastic belt test, marking a huge milestone in his BJJ journey. Blue belt isn’t just a new colour, it’s proof that consistency, courage, and determination always pay off.

Neither promotion came by chance. Both belts were earned through hard work, perseverance, humility, and the willingness to keep learning every time they stepped onto the mats.

We’re honoured to share this journey with you both and can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes you. Keep growing, keep inspiring, and never stop learning.

Congratulations, Dylan and Jordan. Your BJJ family couldn’t be prouder. 💜💙🥋

Today we’re saying goodbye to Fred as he finishes his gap year with us at Exeter Martial Arts and heads off to university in Manchester. 🎉🎓

Over the past year, Fred has been an incredible member of our team, bringing enthusiasm, kindness, and a positive attitude to everything he’s done. As well as helping keep the club running smoothly, he’s been a fantastic instructor in our children’s classes, building great relationships with our younger students and helping them grow in confidence and skill.

Fred has made a real difference to our club, and we’re so grateful for all of his hard work, dedication, and the example he’s set both on and off the mats.

Everyone at Exeter Martial Arts wishes you the very best as you start this exciting new chapter at university in Manchester. We know you’ll achieve great things, and we hope you’ll come back to train and teach whenever you can.

Thank you for everything, Fred, you’ll always be part of the Exeter Martial Arts family. Good luck! 👊💙

Progress isn’t built in the big moments… it’s built in the reps. 👊

This week the team were sharpening transitions from Side Control to Mount, working multiple variations, improving control, pressure, movement, and learning how to flow between dominant positions.

In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the smallest adjustments can make the biggest difference :

drill it, refine it, own it. 🔥

Consistency on the mats = confidence under pressure.

Traditional roots. Modern application.

Black belts sharpening their stand-up game by blending traditional Jiu Jitsu principles with the pace and movement of sport Jiu Jitsu. Every throw, every takedown, every scramble is an opportunity to improve timing, balance, and control.

Train the fundamentals. Test them under pressure. Keep evolving. 🥋💥
