Sailability at Exe Sailing Club

A big thank you to Bicton Inn for their incredibly kind donation following a pub quiz… this will help us provide sailing opportunities to people who might not get the chance. As part of Exe Sailing Club, who help us a lot with keeping this project going we try to raise extra funds to improve our sailors experience. Thank you Alison and everyone at the Bicton Inn who played a part in your kind donation, we are very grateful.

Charlie approached a Devon County Council scheme after struggling with isolation, which was affecting their wellbeing. With help from Community Enabler Sharon Hurni, Charlie received travel training and support to join local activities—including sailing with the Exe Sailing Club’s Sailability scheme.

A crowning achievement for Exmouth charity - King's Award presented to Exe Sailability Project The Exe Sailability Project, which provides access to sailing for disadvantaged people, has been presented with The King's Award for Voluntary Service by the Rear Admiral Chris Snow.

Finally the sails have been put on the Hawks ready for our new season. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone, that this valiant group were enduring yesterday’s hail to ensure things were all in place! Such brave souls👏👏👏

The first Sailability conference was held on Saturday 22nd February and was a great success. A special presentation was made to Gordon Betteridge to thank him for all his help and support.

Sailability@Exe Sailing Club receives King's Award

We are delighted to announce that the Club's Sailability volunteers this year have been recognised with the prestigious King's Award for Voluntary Service (the group equivalent of an MBE).

The award was made public at 0900 today and press releases have been issued.

In Spring next year, the actual award will be presented to Sailability by the Lord Lieutenant for Devonshire when arrangements will be made for the media to attend.

This is a fantastic achievement, recognising the dedication of all of the club members that support Sailability and the fantastic groups and individuals who come to share our passion with getting on the water.
