🏌️ Technical Explainer: Carry
What does “carry” mean?

Carry is the distance the ball travels through the air, before it lands.

So why is it important?

Because what happens after the ball lands can change dramatically depending on the conditions.

Firm ground = more roll.
Soft ground = less roll.

Your carry distance is the controllable part. Once you know how far you consistently carry each club, you can adjust your club selection based on the conditions and predict where the ball is likely to finish.

Knowing your carry numbers gives you a much better understanding of your distances — and helps you make better decisions on the course.

Know your carry. Adjust for the conditions. Play smarter. ⛳

🌿 Happy Thank a Greenkeeper Day! ⛳

Without greenkeepers, we simply wouldn’t be able to enjoy the game we love.

Day after day, whatever the weather, they’re out there preparing, maintaining and caring for golf courses so that we can step onto the first tee and play.

It’s a job that often happens behind the scenes, but their hard work makes a huge difference to every round we play.

So today, we’re saying a huge thank you to all the greenkeepers who keep our courses in great shape and allow us to enjoy the game we love. 👏

⛳ We love seeing big improvements in just one lesson! 💪

This morning, we were working on bunker play with one of our clients — and the difference from the start to the end of the lesson was fantastic. 👏

📸 First two images: Set-up and impact at the start of the lesson.
📸 Last two images: Set-up and impact at the end of the lesson.

A few key changes made a huge difference to the quality of the strike and, most importantly, getting the ball out of the bunker and onto the green. 🏖️➡️⛳️

It’s amazing what you can achieve when you understand what needs to change and have the right guidance to make it happen.

One lesson. Big difference. 👌

⭐ Another great review for the TGR Performance Hub! ⭐

We absolutely love this one after a recent lesson:

💬 “Only thing for me would be to invent a time machine and take me back 50 years! Gaz was very helpful.” 😂👏

We can't quite help with the time machine… but we're glad Gaz could help with your game! 🏌️‍♂️

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review — we really appreciate it.

📊 Compare. Learn. Improve.

Your swing isn’t static – and neither should your practice be.

With side-by-side swing comparison, we can track how your force application changes over time, helping you see what’s changed, what’s working and where there’s still room to improve.

Instead of relying on feel alone, use the data to understand your movement and make more informed changes to your swing.

See the difference. Understand the change. Improve your performance. ⛳

26/08/2026

🏌️‍♂️ How do you think your swing would look on here?

Would you be pleased with what you saw, or do you think it would highlight a few areas you’d need to work on? 👀

We want to know! Let us know in the comments. 👇

📊 TECHNICAL EXPLAINER: LAUNCH vs SPIN ⛳️

Two numbers you’ll often hear about when using TrackMan are launch angle and spin rate — but what do they actually mean, and how should they work together?

🚀 Launch Angle is the angle the ball leaves the clubface relative to the horizon. It has a major influence on the height and trajectory of your shot.

🔄 Spin Rate is how quickly the golf ball is rotating after impact, measured in RPM. Spin influences the ball’s flight, including how much lift it produces and how it behaves when it lands.

So how should they work together?

It’s all about balance.

Too much launch with too little spin can produce a flight that doesn’t stay in the air effectively. Too much spin with too little launch can create a high-drag flight and cost you distance.

The ideal combination depends on club speed, ball speed, strike, club delivery and the club you’re hitting — there isn’t one magic number that works for everyone.

At TGR Performance Hub, we can use TrackMan data to look beyond the numbers and understand why your ball is flying the way it is — then work on the changes that can actually improve your performance.

📈 Don’t just look at the numbers. Understand them.
