Aldwych Speed Club

12/10/2026

A solid week of training ahead for our skaters.
Monday brings relay work, inside hangs, fast 1‑lap efforts and start practice. Wednesday steps it up with 6‑lap accelerations, more inside hangs, 3–2–1 lap sets and starts.

We finish the week with Sunday at the Sheffield Open, where our skaters will put all that hard work onto the ice.

Let’s go, Aldwych.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for the Aldwych Open on Saturday 26th September. With 51 skaters — including 10 novices taking their first steps into competition — it was a wonderful turnout and a great day for the club.

Our officials, volunteers and on‑track team kept everything running smoothly, and we were treated to expert commentary from Albie, our newest Senior Team GB member. We also want to thank the Spectrum Medical staff for their care after a couple of tough falls.

The raffle was a huge success, with over 20 prizes (including a giant teddy bear!) sending many people home happy. Every bit of support helps us continue developing our skaters.

It was especially lovely to welcome Samuel from Lausanne Short Track in Switzerland, who came to race after making friends with UK skaters at the Oberstdorf Summer Camp. Short Track really does build friendships that last.

A huge well done to Jospeh and Albie who have been selected for the senior Team GB for the first time.

Both Jospeh and Albie had strong performances in the Junior World Cup last season and Albie hopes to repeat that this season as well.

Good Luck to all Team GB skaters in the first event of the season in Vancouver at the end of October.

Seven skaters have been selected to represent Great Britain across World Tour 1-5, following the Performance Selection Event in Nottingham.

Running alongside the BIS Open last weekend was the Team GB Short Track selection event for the first five rounds of the ISU World Tour. Results on the day can been see below with the team selection being announced separately. Great representation from Aldwych Speed Club skate with Peter grabing two third place podiums.
