Herts Baseball Club

Herts Baseball Club is affiliated with the British Baseball Federation, British Softball Federation and Little League Inc.

Our adult and youth teams play in the various league tiers of British Baseball and British Softball. Herts Baseball Club was founded in 1996 and over the years has become one of the largest baseball organisations in the country. The club is affiliated with the British Baseball Federation and Little League Baseball Inc. The Herts adult programme includes four teams, which play in the four British b

aseball leagues. The Herts Falcons, which is the club’s first team, competes in the National Baseball League (NBL) which is Britain’s top baseball league. The Falcons were promoted to the NBL in 2009, after becoming AAA British National Champions in 2008. Our four adult teams – the Falcons, Eagles, Hawks and Raptors – are truly international, with players originating from as far as Japan, the United States, Germany, South Africa, China, Australia, Canada, Poland, Venezuela, Bulgaria and Serbia to add to the strong nucleus of British players. The club also runs one of the largest and most successful youth baseball programmes in the UK. It offers baseball to boys and girls aged between 6 and 18. The club’s Under-14 All-Star team became Great Britain’s Under-14 National Champion in 2010 and runner-up in 2011. The Herts U17 team was a runner-up in 2013. Herts players are frequently selected by the various Great Britain National Teams and we hope that a player who has developed in the Herts youth programme will one day play on the world stage in MLB. Herts Baseball Club is frequently featured on BBC and other television channels and radio stations. The Club is based at Grovehill Ballpark in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. It has made substantial investments in the Ballpark and baseball facilities with support from the National Lottery, BSUK and many other organisations and partners. As a result Herts Baseball Club is becoming a regular host of high-profile events such as the National Baseball Championships, the Herts Spring League, the Herts Futures Tournament, the Hunlock Series, and others. The club welcomes men and women, boys and girls regardless of whether or not they have had previous baseball experience. We offer baseball opportunities for all. Round Up - A scorcher on the Sunday brought about runs, bombs, strikeouts and wins for some teams!
- The Cardinals continued their season at home to the Metros. Unfortunately it was a day where the bats exploded for London, culminating in a 18-2 win in the first game. The second game was a far closer contested affair, however the Cardinals came out short 13–11.
- The first Herts Derby on the year was played between the undefeated Hawks and second place Ravens! The game was tight with solid pitching, however the Ravens Kenny Liao, Hang Li and others tore up in the fourth, opening up a lead which beat the unbeaten streak. The second game was also a strong defense game with both teams on top, however it was broken up with a mammoth bomb from Anur (ball is still travelling as we speak) which brought in the win 5-3! A split at the first derby.
- The Raptors continue to play solid baseball, culminating in a sweep against Cambridge! The first game saw solid hits from Rufus Lloyd, Craig Elliot Davey and Paul Owen who helped carry the first game to a 9-4 win. The second game saw the continued dominance of Abdul El Hamri who’s 2 hit game and 8 strikeouts saw him command the win 10-5. Reilly Williams had another great day with 2 knocks and the Raptors stay on top of the division.

**Lou Gehrig Day 2026 — Sunday 7th June, Grovehill Ballpark 🧢⚾**

On Sunday 7th June, Herts Baseball Club will be hosting its third annual Lou Gehrig Day fundraising event at Grovehill Ballpark in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and we’d love as many of you as possible to be there.

We’re inviting all players, managers, members and their families to come along and make a day of it. The event is open to the general public, so please do invite your friends, neighbours and colleagues. There will be live baseball, a barbecue, family-friendly activities and a raffle — a great day out for all ages whilst raising money for a truly worthwhile cause.

Round Up - Week Six brought about wins, losses, extra innings, walk offs and runs….lots of runs.

- Toucans kicked us off against the Mets at Grovehill. The first game was purely a spectator show due to the game being 0-0 after 7 innings. Then the 8th inning happened with both teams scoring a 6 against each other! Unfortunately the Mets scored more in the 9th and won the first game 8-6. The second game however showed the pitching display of Johan and Masa bear fruit with a strong win 8-7. Catcher Daisuke Higaki having a great day and bombs from Josh Marriott & Carlos Torres to shine too! 💣
- Cardinals got their home opener under way against Brighton! Ben Peters made his AAA debut, striking out 9 batters in 3.1 innings, however walks and hits from Brighton weren’t enough to turn it around in the first game, losing out 7-2. The second game, well, if you were a baseball, you were either being hit out or being used as a tool for runs, as 32 runs scored on the second game! An incredible game saw the lead go back and forth, even a Cardinals 7 run inning tying the game - this game had everything! Sadly, it had more for Brighton who managed to take the win 17-15
- The Ravens managed to split at Finsbury Park against the London Minotaurs. The first game showed discipline through walks (except Hang, who decided to destroy baseballs) and the defense was stellar for both teams, however the Minos showed determination and managed to keep the runs on. A powerful last inning was strong but not enough to stop the walk off, losing out 11-10. The second game showed Jianyu “Tiger” Wu complete another masterclass with a complete game and 12Ks! A day which also showed careful base-running and patience be the key for the win - 8-3!

Round Up - Week Five brought about a record breaking weekend for the club, with Herts winning 9 out of 10!

- The Toucans kicked off their home fixture at Basing Hill this weekend against the Essex Arrows. A strong comeback display was in the works in the first game after coming back with a 3 run inning in the 5th, however Essex managed to track through two runs to win the first game. The second game brought about pitching dominance through Johan Villanueva & Masa Hashiguchi, coupled with strong bats in the middle order to get the job done.
- Hawks were on the road to the London Minotaurs who started out the season with a 4-0 record. Strong hits, good defence and doubles a plenty were in this game. The first game saw some amazing discipline from the Hawks bats, culminating in a 6-5 win in the first game. The second game saw a tight struggle at the start, however perseverance and resilience were the key to the second game.
- Ravens finally got their season off to a start with their opening fixtures at Grovehill against the London Mercury! The first game saw a tight affair with both teams trading runs and hits across each other. The bottom half of the last inning saw the Ravens claw back with hits and walks, coupled with Csaba Szilagyi getting the walk off hit!! The second game saw ace Jianyu Wu dominate, throwing a one hitter, striking out 7 batters and having a fantastic complete game.
- The Raptors faced the Essex Redbacks who came to Grovehill. Game one saw a shaky start for the Raptors, however the drive appeared again with the last inning with hits from Dave Roberts, Craig Elliot Davey and a literal hit by pitch for Hunter Devine, capping a great win 15-14. The second game saw some plate power from Rufus Lloyd, Abdul El-Hamri, Emily Dallas, Oliver Nourse & Reilly Williams who had multiple hits in the game and capped off a dominating performance 13-4. Raptors continue to lead the division! - The Eagles, driven to get back to wins, took on their second away fixture to Richmond. Zach Amdur and Laurence Mohan had strong days with the bat which saw the Eagles come up winners 17-15. The second game saw the team shine, winning 17-9!
