The next team to introduce for Saturday 20th June's walking Rugby Tournament, representing THE NEW PLOUGH INN, are the mighty Plough Hounds.
Long-standing supporters of Hinckley Rugby Club, the Hounds return this year with a squad that's been carefully assembled, expertly prepared, and—most importantly—thoroughly stress-tested.
In fact, sources close to the camp report that the team are now as robust as they need to be after surviving 14 consecutive days of John Tilley attending the premises. If they can endure that, a few games of Walking Rugby should be a breeze.
Taking charge from the sidelines is last year's tournament-winning mastermind, Andrew "Fatty" Phillips. Having spent decades perfecting the art of appearing stationary while somehow controlling a rugby match, Fatty is widely regarded as one of the game's great thinkers.
"Walking Rugby suits my coaching philosophy perfectly," he explained. "Minimal movement, maximum advice. It's the future."
Captaining the side is the ever-reliable Liz Malpass, whose leadership qualities are unquestioned. Her organisational skills, however, remain under investigation. Tournament officials have been advised that any kick-off times communicated to Liz should be moved forward by at least 45 minutes as a precaution.
Also pulling on the famous Plough colours is Darren "Glass Back" Lavender, a man whose commitment to fitness is unquestionable, even if his body continues to submit formal objections. Darren's finest moment may not have come on the rugby field. Following a scintillating vocal performance in The New Plough Inn, Jeremy Saxon famously described him as "a bald Morrissey"—a title Darren has worn with a mixture of pride and confusion ever since. While his singing credentials remain a matter of public record, rumours of unpaid Sunday tabs and barmaids banter are once again rife.
Adding further intrigue to the tournament is speculation that one of the legendary Buca twins may be making an appearance. Confirmation has yet to arrive, but opposition scouts are already losing sleep.
The Plough Hounds may not be the youngest squad. They may not be the quickest. They may not even be entirely sure who's bringing the oranges.
But they're experienced, unpredictable, battle-hardened by two weeks of John Tilley, and backed by one of the finest pubs in town.
Ignore them at your own risk.

As the excitement begins to build for the Charity Walking Rugby Festival on Saturday 20th June at Hinckley Rugby Football Club, it's time to introduce a team who know exactly how to handle pressure, crowds, and the occasional difficult customer – The Bar Staff.
Normally found keeping the clubhouse running smoothly and ensuring nobody goes thirsty, this group of local legends are swapping bar towels for rugby shirts and stepping onto the pitch. For years they've been serving the thirsty male population of Hinckley, and now they're ready to turn their attention to serving up a few surprises on the rugby field too.
Despite having little regard for conventional rugby preparation, this squad arrives full of confidence and team spirit. Tactical meetings have reportedly taken place during windy walks around the Common, where game plans have been discussed, refined and, in some cases, completely forgotten. Fuelled on mates-rates cocktails and Dom's infamous pasta, they've left no stone unturned in their quest for walking rugby glory. Built on years of friendship, banter and shared shifts behind the bar, they'll be backing each other every step of the way and hoping teamwork counts for just as much as talent.
This year, they're not just relying on their tried-and-tested blend of charm and chaos. The squad has been bolstered by fresh blood and a few carefully recruited ringers, adding even more firepower to an already formidable outfit.
And while rumours persist of romantic weekends away in sheep huts and questionable adventures in the back of the Bounty, these girls have been putting in the hard yards. Training sessions have become a regular fixture as they focus their efforts on this event, determined to prove there's far more to them than pulling pints and telling stories.
Will they lift the trophy? Who knows. Will they be the loudest team there? Almost certainly. One thing is guaranteed – The Bar Staff will bring energy, entertainment and just enough unpredictability to keep everyone on their toes.
