Confidence to move freely doesn’t happen by accident ⤵️

It’s built by regularly practising the movements we use every day.

That’s exactly what we do inside our sessions 🩵

Here are a few snapshots from life in May, which has absolutely whizzed by…

- It was my birthday month. It rained all day and I’m trying not to eat cake, was also raking soil either side of it - so afraid no Insta worthy photos taken🎈

- Our ‘Wandering Stars’ walking group is quite the success. People finding moving in ways that seemed a bit too silly before - now moving outdoors in nature with playfulness, learning lost skills and in really fun ways. 🥾

- The topsoil delivery was a scary moment, but we somehow survived spreading all 40 tonne of it. 💪
Grass seed now spread on and so very happy with the current rain we are having - sorry about that!

- The trip to London was for more training with Body Control Pilates. I found a window of opportunity and I’m back on with more reformer training after my 2.5 year house renovation sabbatical 🤩

- The stone steps are something we’re attempting to build ourselves despite having absolutely no previous experience of building stone steps.

- Our website was updated as we grow into our skin.

- We decided to rename the ‘Spine Corrector’ equipment the ‘Spine Supporter’ as although some were a little sceptical at first, I can confirm they are now completely won over with the added support that it gives.

The month of May has been exciting, frustrating, rewarding and occasionally overwhelming in equal measure.

But it’s also reminded me that most things worth doing take longer than we’d like them to.

You rarely see the progress day to day.

Then you look back and remember where you started, and realise just how much has changed.

We’re learning new skills, making mistakes, figuring things out as we go and gradually creating something we’re really proud of.

I think that’s one of the reasons I enjoy working with people so much too.

The process isn’t all that different.

For several months she had felt trapped inside a body she no longer understood. There had been appointments, advice, exercises handed out on sheets of paper and plenty of well-meaning experts, yet nobody seemed able to explain why she felt so disconnected from herself.

Life felt harder lately, her plans had been put on hold and her energy was low.

Everything felt dependent on somebody else having the answer.

Yet lying there on that old floor something felt different.

There wasn’t anything remarkable about the room or any special equipment.

Just a mat, a body and a willingness to explore.

What she discovered wasn’t a cure, it was more valuable than that. There was a sense that she could participate in her own recovery.

It wasn’t rocket science, in fact in many ways it was surprisingly simple.

Which perhaps made it feel like well kept secret.

Why had nobody told her that understanding her body could begin with something as simple as paying attention?

That moment became the start of a very different journey.

Curiosity, movement and self-discovery were now her guide.

She no longer felt lost and that was enough for that moment.

♥️ This was the beginning of my Pilates, movement and healing journey and still underpins my story of 26 years of learning.

Sharron ♥️

Your spine loves a little adventure 🧡

New movements and different positions.

A chance to bend, stretch, strengthen and explore instead of doing the same thing over and over.

That’s exactly what we get up to in our Wednesday ‘Spine Support’ sessions using the Pilates Step Barrel / Spine Corrector. We also combine the sessions with some carefully chosen strength and resistance work.

It’s a real treat for the back.

👉Come join us Wednesdays at 10:45am.
👉max 4 person for this session.

New starter package 3 sessions for £29.

If the constant scroll is starting to feel a bit too much lately, you’re not the only one 🙋🏼‍♀️

Somewhere along the way, movement got caught up in all the noise,
comparison, conflicting advice, and trying things that don’t quite fit your body.

This post is for the people who are ready to step away from that a little…
and find something that actually makes sense again.

And maybe even remember that movement can feel good 😊

Sharing a space, having a fun, and enjoying being in a room with real people, not just watching it through a screen.

If that’s you, I’d love to know - comment “SIMPLE” or just say hello 👋

🙋🏼‍♀️ It’s ok to slouch.

I know… that probably goes against everything you’ve ever been told.

“Sit up straight.”
“Shoulders back and down.”
“Good posture means holding yourself upright.”

But that constant holding often creates more tension in your lower back, not less.

I have struggled with chronic lower back pain in sitting, and this simple shift completely changed how my back felt.

Instead of forcing yourself upright, try this:

👉 Gently soften your lower front ribs down towards your waistband
👉 Then allow a slight lift through the chest (this part may feel like a reverse in the ribs shifting back to their original position - but it’s only a subtle lift and takes practice to adapt into)

This new position might feel a little “slouchy” at first…
but see if your lower back feels a bit more relaxed, like it’s not working so hard to hold you there.

Perfect if your back tends to grumble after sitting for a while.

If you’re someone who lifts through your ribs without realising…
try it and tell me how it feels 👇

Are you a “sit up straight” person? Try this and tell me how your back responds 👇

Wait… I’m actually still allowed to do this stuff? 😄

That’s the whole point.

Because the first time you step over a fallen branch, hop, or take a bigger step on a trail, your brain does a quick little security check:

Is this safe?
Am I going to regret this?
Should I just… not?

And I love using the outdoors to build leg strength because these tiny challenges sneak confidence back in without you noticing.

Sometimes it’s a bit scary (not danger-scary). More like confidence catching up scary. That’s the good bit. That’s where steadiness is built.

Not by forcing it or pretending you’re fearless.
Just by practising the skills that make walking feel steadier again.

That’s why ⭐ WANDERING STARS ⭐ was started

DM ‘tell me more’ for more information

A gentle, community-led movement meet-up for:

This idea started when…
…a client told me she was avoiding walks with friends because she was worried about holding them up.

She didn’t want to be the one lagging behind…
needing to stop for benches…
feeling embarrassed that her legs didn’t have the strength they used to.

She just wanted to enjoy the walk.
The views. The connection. The moment.
Not constantly thinking: “Will I manage this?”

That conversation stayed with me.
Because she’s not the only one.

So we’re starting a walking group where the focus is on:
Strength, confidence, and support.
Training along the walk, we will build up gradually, with balance, stability, and resilience work woven in.

This will be for people to move together, without pressure, and still feel proud of what their bodies can do.

A small-group training walk to help you feel stronger every step with the option (not requirement!) to train toward a 12-mile charity walk this summer.

👣 Outdoor movement designed for real life
👣 Playful strength woven into walking
👣 Weekday afternoons, PAYG each session

DM me “I’m in” or “Tell me more” if you want to join the interest list.
No pressure, just possibility 🌿

If you do this your hips and knees will thank you.
Especially if bending feels like effort…
Or you catch yourself hesitating before standing up.

This one simple move can begin to rebuild the strength, control, and ease you miss
Without needing to “work out” or add something extra to your day.

🌀 You already do this twist-and-bend pattern multiple times a day

To pick things up, reach the floor, or get out of a chair.

But when you start using the whole leg
With the hips, knees, and ankles bending together,
You create a better pattern that keeps everything moving smoothly and efficiently.

It’s not about pushing harder.
It’s about moving smarter so your body stays strong in the ways that actually matter.

🎥 Try this today (see the last slide). Your joints will notice the difference.

I said what I said 🙈
There’s way too much advice out there saying:
“Just activate your glutes”
“Try a few bridges”
“Stretch your hips daily”

🫠 Reality?
If your feet are gripping the floor like a claw machine,
your knees, hips and back are working overtime to compensate.
And you’ll keep chasing relief that doesn’t stick.

If you really want:
1. More ease when you walk
2. Less tension in your hips or back
3. A body that feels stronger and more balanced as you move…

Here’s exactly what you need to do to make that happen:
1. Build foot strength 🦶
2. Reconnect your foot to hip movement in standing
3. Stop trying to ‘fix’ joints and start training patterns

✨ Follow .uk where I show you exactly how to move with less pain and more confidence, without needing to overthink every step.

Or comment /DM STEP and I’ll send you something to help you feel stronger every step of the way.
