It’s flip flop season…..
Some of you know how much I don’t like flip flops. Don’t get me wrong, I have some and wear them occasionally but never if I’m walking any distance.
Not only are they bad for your feet:
👣 no arch support could cause ligament damage and plantar fasciitis
👣 constant gripping with toes can result in cramping, poor gait and posture
👣 flimsy sole without any cushioning and no stability increases risk of falling
Wearing them regularly can lead to back, hip and knee injuries.
I also feel the same about the ballet slipper shoes the girls wear for school. Brogues would be much better but I can’t get my daughter to wear them and I’ve never seen any girls at school in them.
Don’t throw away your flip flops 🩴 just don’t wear them all summer 🥰

Last night with my Friday Pilates group.
These lovely ladies are from the Friday Pilates class I go to each week with Northern Pilates , taught by the brilliant Zoe.
I don’t teach this class, I’m just another person on the mat, but it’s a great reminder of something I see all the time in fitness.
When people think about starting exercise they often focus on things like weight loss or getting fitter. Those things are great — but something people don’t always expect is how much community can come with it.
Joining a class can mean:
✨ Getting out of the house
✨ Having a regular thing in the diary
✨ Feeling part of something
✨ Seeing the same friendly faces each week
✨ And occasionally ending up on a night out together!
And as someone who now works in fitness myself, I know just how powerful that can be.

Here is my timetable of classes. Please get in touch to book 💕
Once we reframe our mindset to one that sees moving our bodies as a privilege then we will shift our attitude and look forward to exercising instead of thinking it’s a chore ♥️
I promise that, however you might not feeling like coming to class sometimes, you will never regret it 😍
I LOVE teaching and am very lucky to spend my working life doing something so rewarding and genuinely looking forward to every one of my classes!

I’m excited to share a new class with you and would really appreciate it if you could share with family and friends.
This is called ‘senior pilates’ but is open to all ages! The class starts Wednesday 4th February and is 1.30-2.30pm at Skelmanthorpe Community Centre which is at the back of the squash club, 45 Commercial Road, Skelmanthorpe, HD8 9DA. You get to the community centre by going round the back of the club where you will find ample parking and the entrance. The studio is upstairs so is not suitable if you cannot manage stairs I’m afraid.
The room is lovely and warm (underfloor heating) but not too hot! The class will be led with you facing the windows with a lovely view towards Emley Mast. All you need to bring is your mat and a cushion.
The class is £8. I am doing the first 2 classes as pay as you go then, after half term, the class will be included in the usual format of running during school terms (and some school holidays). More information about this when I am sure the class is going to take off. I would be very grateful for your help in promoting this class. Word of mouth is always the best way of advertising for me. Thank you.
I thought there was a lack of classes on offer mid week in the middle of day for people with delicate bodies. This class is open to everybody and will be beginner level with a little bit of rest and relaxation at the end EVERY week! I know some of you would like more of that.
This class is also available if you can’t make your usual class as long as I have space.
Thank you in advance and I hope to see some of you returning and look forward to meeting new people.
Love
Zoe xx
